#12 Reebok SXT Pump: Sky Surfer 1990
The Reebok SXT Pump is one of Reebok’s greatest silhouettes of all time which makes it all the more shocking that Reebok has never retro’d them. During the shoes initial release a 1991 Popular Science comparison ranked them ahead of Bo’s famous Nike Air Trainer SC III as the best overall cross training shoe you could buy and the shoe would go on to make its cinematic debut during a brief appearance in the movie ‘Juice’. It was the commercial however that really set the overall reputation of the SXT Pump on fire and to accomplish this Reebok enlisted the help of the late French Skydiver/Sky surfer Patrick De Gayardon. Jumping out of an airplane Gayardon spun and glided his way towards land after which he presses on the release valve and we -the viewers -are left with a hissssssssssssssssss. It was one of the greatest moments in footwear history and landed this commercial easily at the 12th spot.
