#5 Nike Air Trainer SC II 3/4: Bo Knows 1989
Cross training was still a relatively young segment in the footwear industry and there was no one better to lead the way for Nike than the two sport playing Bo Jackson. Of course due to injury Bo never quite lived up to his full abilities but there was no denying how insanely talented he was and immensely popular he was during the late 80’s and early 90’s. It was this 1989 commercial specifically for the Nike Air Trainer SC II ¾ that really catapulted Bo into Pop icon status. Kirk Gibson, Jim Everett, John McEnroe, Wayne Gretzky, Michael Jordan and Bo Diddly all showed up to see just what “Bo Know’s” and what it translated to was advertising gold and the edge Nike needed -at the time- to move out ahead of Reebok in the US footwear market.
