Although Nike put it’s focus in the Free 5.0 line for the first few years after the Free technology’s inception, that didn’t stop the brand from unleashing something even more radical on it’s consumers. The Nike Free 3.0 ditched the fabric overlays for an upper entirely comprised of mesh, bringing runners even closer to the barefoot feeling that Nike Free was meant to simulate. The Free 3.0 showed a trend toward lightweight sneakers with breathable, compression-fit uppers that has continued all the way to now.
