You can rock these Air Jordan 13 Retros like Kevin Martin this May
Like many kids born in the 1980s, Kevin Martin grew up idolizing Michael Jordan.
Growing up in Ohio, just a few short hours from where MJ played for Chicago Bulls, Martin idolized His Airness as a kid.
Coming out of Zanesville High School and Western Carolina University, Martin even donned the number 23 when he made it to the league in the 2004 NBA Draft.
So imagine his excitement when he was signed to Mike’s shoe label ahead of the 2008-09 season after putting up a blistering 23.7 points per game the prior season.
In his first season as a Jumpman endorser, Martin posted career-high scoring numbers on a struggling Sacramento Kings team, and it wasn’t long before he was traded to Houston in 2010.
It was in that phase of his career that he received his most memorable shoes: a player-exclusive colorway of the Air Jordan 13.
Dressed in similar fashion to the OG ‘Flint Grey’ colorway, K-Mart’s PEs swapped the Carolina Blue panels for a more Rockets-appropriate hue. A Flint Grey midsole and crisp white leather on the upper finished the look, which was capped off by his K-12 logo on the tongues.
We all know how hard player-exclusive colorways are to get our hands on, assuming most of us aren’t athletes or alumni. Jordan Brand knows this, and now and then they’ll throw us a bone in the form of a general release modeled after a PE.
Like, for instance, the upcoming Air Jordan 13 Retro ‘Red Flint,’ releasing on 5/1 in Men’s and Kids’ sizing.
Once again we’ve got a bright white leather upper with Flint Grey mudguards, heels and collars, while a Gym Red mesh overlay sets it off.
Whether you’re a Rockets fan or just need some more red in your rotation, you won’t want to miss these. You can bet K-Mart’s gonna cop a pair.
Grab a pair inspired by a player exclusive when the Air Jordan 13 Retro ‘Red Flint’ releases in full family sizing on 5/1. Keep it locked on @finishline for updates on release and reservation details.
