Dive into 2021 with the Air Jordan 13 Retro ‘Starfish’

Perhaps that goes towards explaining the recent recurrence of the “Starfish” hue in some highly sought-after Jordan retro releases from the past few years.

Okay, that might be a stretch. But it’s not inaccurate to say that the ‘Shattered Backboard’ series of Air Jordan 1s, the first of which dropped in 2015, are the prime example of the “Starfish” color applied in hot fashion.

The four high-top AJ1 versions, a low-top and a mid-cut edition combine the warm orange tone with crisp white and/or black for a eye-pleasing contrast that keeps sneakerheads coming back again and again on the secondary market.

Now, to kick off the new year, Jumpman has applied the colorway to the iconic Air Jordan 13, set to drop on 1/16.

Featuring the design we’re all intimately familiar with — quilted leather upper, holographic “cat’s eye” branding at the ankle, the outsole designed to resemble a panther’s paw — this AJ 13 release splashes that bright Starfish tone on suede mudguards and heels. Black trim in the sockliner and outsole complete the ‘Shattered Backboard’-esque look.
