Taking design cues from a World War II Mustang fighter plane the shoe featured elements not seen on anything previously. Elements like the fighter wings look on the forefoot of the Air Jordan 5. Other key design elements of the shoe included were vented side panels, a large reflective 3m tongue and translucent outsole where a Jumpman was located. Other new additions to the shoes were a set of lace locks to ensure the laces stayed tight and MJ’s number added to the heel.
