For the Air Jordan 2 Nike went all out in terms of quality for his Airness. The second Air Jordan shoe design was handled by Bruce Kilgore who was inspired by a 19th century woman’s boot. The shoe was built and created in Italy, the first and only Air Jordan to do this. The Air Jordan 2 was also the first Jordan model to receive a low-cut version when initially released. It featured a full leather upper with faux lizard skin finish on it’s side panels. However the most interesting design element of the shoe was the absence of a visible Nike Swoosh, a trend that would be followed in further incarnations. MJ wore the Air Jordan 2 during his first Slam Dunk Contest victory, most noticeable in his famous “Kiss the Rim” dunk.
