We’re well into the winter months and the lovely weather that comes with the season. If you’re one that loves to rock their retros year round but have to resort to a backup in the winter then Jordan Brand has you covered. You don’t want to mess up your prize pairs, sacrificing them to salt and snow, but you still want to have something fresh on your feet. It’s a difficult Catch-22 of sorts, and one that Jordan Brand is doing their part to solve with their new ‘Winter’ Air Jordan 12s. Back in October, Jordan dropped their first round of winterized Retros with multiple colorways of the Retro 9 that were built to withstand the weather.
Now, they’re dropping another winter-ready pair in the Air Jordan Retro 12 ‘Winter’. The all-black kicks feature a rubberized upper for maximum durability and resilience, while a terry cloth-lined collar ensures they’re extra-warm for the cold days as well. Just because they feature a toned-down colorway doesn’t mean that they’re skipping out on the detailing either, as the textured upper is accented by stitched panels, the AJ 12’s signature large mudguard, and tonal Jumpman branding on the tongue, throat, mid foot, and heel.

On May 7th, 1995 Michael Jordan stepped onto the hardwood for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals between the Chicago Bulls and Orlando Magic. All eyes in the stadium and across the country from the people watching on tv were locked in on Jordan, not because of a highlight play, but because of the shoes he had on. Nearly two months had passed since Jordan ended his 17-month retirement. When he returned, he shocked the basketball universe by switching to No. 45, not the No. 23 he’d previously worn for his entire NBA career. The new number was what he rocked for the Birmingham Barons playing in baseball’s minor leagues. All the other players on the court were donning the traditional playoff look of all black sneakers but MJ was showing off the fresh, predominantly white ‘Concord’ Air Jordan 11s. The No. 45 was there as well, printed in white on the heels of each shoe to match the jersey he had on. From there the rest is history.
From that moment, sneaker lovers, Michael Jordan historians, and fans of the game have looked at the ‘Concord’ Air Jordan 11 differently. The shoe has been described as “absolute perfection in a sneaker”, “the holy grail” and much more because of its White, ballistic mesh upper and a shiny, elegant Black patent leather wrap that was unlike anything that’d ever been seen on a sneaker. Then when good friend of Michael Jordan, Ahmad Rashad, decided to do a small feature on the patent leather shoes during the nationally broadcasted game, it sent the newly-forming sneaker community into a frenzy. There haven’t been too many moments like that since. Outside June 14th, 1998 (if you don’t know what happened that date, then do some searching), I can’t think of any athlete truly shocking the world with an unknown sneaker.
Since the debut in 1995, the ‘Concord’ Jordan 11 has released twice in 2000 and 2011. This years release is unlike the previous ones, as Jordan Brand goes back to ’95 with this version. These are as OG as it can get with a pair of Jordans. Swapping out the 23 on the heel for 45 like MJ’s pair, all the shoe’s iconic details are featured, from the striking Black patent leather mudguard to the White mesh upper. Finally, the colorway is topped off with a translucent outsole that’s rounded out by subtle Concord Purple hits on the tongue and bottom.

Back in 1995, Jordan Brand dropped a collection of five Air Jordan 10’s that were called the ‘City Pack’. The five shoes represented the cities of New York, Sacramento, Orlando, Chicago, and Seattle. All the teams in these cities are notable for the times MJ battled with them throughout his career. You may remember that back in 2016 JB dropped a different city collection that was made up of eight cities, some new and old; New York, Charlotte, Chicago, Los Angeles, London, Shanghai, Paris and Rio. Now, Jordan is dropping an OG pair from the 1995 collection that sneakerheads have been wanting to get their hands on.
The Air Jordan Retro 10 ‘Orlando’ has become a classic over the years. One of the most notable facts about the shoe is that MJ never played in it but an opponent of his, Nick Anderson, wore them during Michael Jordan’s first retirement as a player exclusive. Coming dressed in an Orlando Magic color scheme that is too clean, you’ll have a hard time passing. The shoe comes covered in a White leather upper with Black and Royal accents placed on the tongue, eyestay, ankle, heel, inner liner, midsole, outsole, and branding.

The weather is getting colder and with the change of seasons, Jordan is showing off a dreamy olive colorway on the Retro 11 for the ladies. This pair is premium ditching the traditional mesh upper and replacing it with an olive suede. Covered in a glitter for more standout moments, this Jordan is ready for the holidays. Complimenting the overall look is a gold detail of the Jumpman on the heel, white midsole and gum bottom.

Even though were already in the fall season, Jordan Brand is going tropical for their next release. We’ve seen the South Beach colorway take over numerous models throughout Nike Basketball and Nike Sportswear and now the Air Jordan Retro 8 ‘Turbo Green’ seems to have gotten some South Beach inspiration. After being seen briefly earlier in 2018, Jordan Brand’s Air Jordan 8 is back on the calendar for fall with a colorway that will have you wanting to go south for the winter.
Dressed in a White, Turbo Green, and Multi-Color color scheme. This Air Jordan Retro 8 features a White and Light Grey upper highlighted with Turbo Green and Hot Pink accents. Its functionality combines with the aesthetic appeal of the Jordan 9, creating a must-have for Jumpman fanatics that aspire to keep their footwear game strong even in the harshest of climates. This season, the Jordan 9 Boot will be reprising its role with two new color schemes, one coming done up tonally in an autumn-friendly Wheat, and the other sporting a primarily black upper with a quick Concord-colored hit on its sole and heel logos. This winterized version of the revered Jumpman silhouette equips a rugged outsole for traction through the slippery snow, while its upper boasts a durable, waterproof textile. Jordan Brand is on an absolute tear this year and your wallet is probably taking a beating because of them. It seems like every weekend the releases get better and better and their next Retro to drop comes in a new colorway that has never been released and it’s perfect for your rotation for the fall months. The Retro 1 High OG is a sneaker-lover essential and this up and coming colorway is perfect if you’re a Celtics fan. In 2009, the brand released a 60+ Count Down Pack with a very similar Jordan 1 Retro High that came with the more traditional white toe as opposed to the green variety that we are now getting.
Dressed in a Pine Green, Sail and Black color scheme. This Air Jordan Retro 1 features Pine Green on the toe box, tongue label, heel and rubber outsole. Black covers the tongue, laces, Wings logo, Nike Swoosh and overlay on the toe. Finishing off the design is White on the mid-section as well as on the midsole. It’s a smooth colorway that looks so good on-foot. If you’re looking for that new go-to sneaker for fall then these are just what you’ve been searching for.
