Pops with Hops: Our Favorite NBA Dads

Share

Once they step onto the court and get into the zone, these guys are the fiercest competitors in professional sports. But when the final buzzer sounds and the arena clears out, some of the NBA’s biggest and brightest stars are dorky dads just like so many of us.

With Father’s Day coming up, we wanted to put the spotlight on some  of our favorite NBA dads.

LeBron James

The Lakers forward and his high school sweetheart Savanna have three kids — Bronny, Bryce and Zhuri. Bronny’s got the goods to make it in the big league like his dad, while Bryce and Zhuri are performers in their own right, as you can frequently see in LeBron’s Instagram posts. Nobody’s messing with the James Gang.

Dwyane Wade

The Miami Heat legend has four kids, two sons and two daughters. Like former teammate LeBron James’s son, D-Wade’s son Zaire is shaping up to be a basketball star. He also dotes upon his son Xavier, daughters Zaya and Kaavia (who’s not yet 2 and already has 1.2 million Instagram followers) and nephew Daveeon. His unwavering support of Zaya, who was assigned male at birth but now identifies as a girl, is heartwarming parenting.

Steph Curry

Who could possibly forget the most adorable moment in NBA Playoffs press conference history? Golden State star Steph Curry’s young daughter Riley stole the show after the Warriors clinched the Western Conference Finals in 2015.

Riley has two younger brothers, Ryan and Canon, and Dad can regularly be seen mugging with the three on Instagram and in their YouTube series “The Curry Family in Quarantine.”

Russell Westbrook

Russ might have averaged a triple-double in consecutive seasons, but when Westbrook gets home it’s double trouble all over again – and then some. The Houston Rockets guard and wife Nina have three kids — son Noah, and twin daughters Jordyn and Skye — to keep their hands full at all times.

Paul George

Another former Oklahoma City Thunder star who’s a doting dad off the court is current Clippers forward Paul George. George has two daughters, Olivia and Natasha.

Ja Morant

The young Memphis Grizzlies point guard (and member of the #FNLFam) will be gearing up for his first ever Father’s Day. He and girlfriend KK Dixon welcomed their daughter Kaari Jaidyn Morant to the world last summer, a couple of months ahead of schedule.

The Grizzlies will be returning to the court in Orlando in the coming weeks, but at least Ja will get to celebrate with his ladies before then.
