Ranking the Top 10 No. 1 NBA Draft Picks
3. Oscar Robertson (Cincinnati Royals, 1960)
via @BleacherReport
Throwing it back to 1960 for #3 on the list, The “Big O” Oscar Robertson. He is the only player in NBA history to average a triple double for an entire season (1961-62, averaged 30 points, 12 rebounds, 11 assists). Robertson was a point guard with all around skills on both sides of the ball.
He led the franchise to six consecutive playoff appearances, but wouldn’t win a championship until playing with the Milwaukee Bucks and Kareem Abdul Jabbar in 1971. Big O played through tough times in the 60’s with the civil rights movement in full effect but overcame adversity and is known as one of the best all around basketball players in history.
