Coming in at #8 is “The Admiral” David Robinson. Considered the best Naval Academy basketball player ever, the Spurs with another #1 pick, selected Robinson. In his first season he helped the Spurs have one of the greatest year to year turn arounds by a 35 game improvement.
He was a cornerstone in the Spurs organization and was a key to the teams success. Once Tim Duncan arrived in San Antonio the Spurs won 2 titles with Robinson and Duncan, coined the “Twin Towers” in 1999 and 2003. A highlight of his career was in 1994 when he scored 71 points in the last regular season game to win the scoring title over Shaq.
