Nike Air Up: One of Penny Hardaway’s Best Sneakers

Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway is undoubtedly one of the most important basketball players in the history of the game, at least when it comes to sneakerheads. Whether it’s one of his numbered signature sneakers, or one of the many he helped make iconic with his no-look passes and ability to cause opposing defenders headaches, Penny Hardaway’s sneaker game is one of the most respected and collected. Penny’s name may not have been attached to every sneaker he wore, but for many, like the Nike Air Up, he was the reason the sneaker became coveted.

20 years after Penny Hardaway first laced up the Nike Air Up, it returns as a retro for the very first time. For the older ‘heads, these are must-haves because Nike has brought them back true to the original form. That means, the cartoon-like graffiti inspired Air Up on the tongue, the Nike Air on the heel, clear TPU “Flight” bubble on the heel and the timeless Orlando Magic colorway, are all exactly as they were when Penny laced them up in 1994.

You can grab the Nike Air Up Retro on at 8AM EST on January, 18th.
