Ranking the Best Air Max Styles
The Nike Air Max line is quite possibly one of the greatest running shoe lines of all time, and most certainly one of the longest running running lines, it being started in 1987. There were many more shoes to come over the years, so let’s take a look back to see which ones were the best so far.
When thinking of the best Air Max styles, the Air Max 1, Air Max 90, and Air Max 95 have to be at the top of most people’s list. These three shoes have undoubtedly been the most influential shoes from the line, and are still among the most popular and best selling today.
The Air Max 1 was the shoe to start it all. It was the first with a visible Air unit, and the color blocking used for the original colorways were bright and eye catching. The Air Max 90 was the next hit in the Air Max line, and this model featured and updated sole and outsole that was ahead of its time for running technology. Notable colorways such as the “Infrareds” and “Laser Blues” are still among the most sought after Air Max shoes ever. The Air Max 95 also has to be on the list of best Air Max shoes ever, and is still considered to many as the greatest Nike runner of all time. This Air Max was different than any shoe from the line, and featured minimal branding as well as an all new outsole that had visible Air units in the forefoot as well as the heel.
All of the aforementioned Air Max shoes are definitely considered classics in the sneaker culture, and we wonder what shoes in the future will be considered the same. The Air Max 2009 and the Air Max 2012 were both very popular pick ups over recent years, and the new Air Max 2013 will likely be as well. Only time will tell if these too will one day be considered classics, but as they say, history tends to repeat itself. If you’re on the market for some fresh new Air Max, make sure to swoop up a pair at Finish Line.
