Cool Grey Chronicles: History of Cool Grey Jordans
Every time an Air Jordan sneaker in a cool grey color way releases, excitement is sure to ensue. It doesn’t help that the first time this color way released was on the Air Jordan 11, the most popular Jordan model to date. Not to mention Michael Jordan himself wore this pair of sneaks in his famous last game against the New York Knicks in 2001, scoring 39 points. Not bad for a 40 year old.
After the release of the Cool Grey 11s in March of 2001, the color scheme was extended to the Air Jordan 9 the following year. The reception was the same, as pairs sold out quickly. The original success of the Air Jordan 11 “Cool Grey” also led to a highly anticipated retro release years later.
Yet again in 2010, pairs quickly sold and chaos ensued. So, as we anticipate the release of the Jordan 9 retro this holiday season, history tells us these historical kicks will be a hot commodity. Will you be getting a pair?
