In a world where creators are inspired to curate unique content and sharing work is as quick as sharing an IG post, authenticity is always challenged. This story takes place in Chicago where Oscar Castillo (@oscar_castillo) of @ModernNotoriety experienced what he said was like a movie this past Sunday. We teamed up with @ModernNotoriety and @PUMA to unite and inspire shooters from the local Chicago scene.

Castillo says that Sunday’s events were the makings of a dream he had few years back and just a few blocks down the road. He has seen the sneaker and streetwear landscape evolve and has been a pioneer in content creation for almost a decade now. He is driven by competition and motivated by passion.

The focal point of this event was the illustrious PUMA Optic Filter Collection which consisted of the RS-0 and the Turin_0. With inspiration from photography, these trainers feature reflective materials with eye-catching hits of torchlight glares. These trainers are perfect for any modern day athlete and was the star of the show since there were so many different ways to capture details of the sneaker.

Check out some of the visuals that were created during the event:

No one will know “Authenticity” and “culture” like those involved in it and know the blueprint inside out. Both of those terms are used loosely by machines that fabricate inauthenticity in chicago. I was here for the entire chicago story and observed the sneaker / streetwear landscape evolve for over a decade. This past Sunday was a movie. This is the stuff I dreamed of when I was in that stock room a few blocks down a decade ago. Notoriety means to be known, now the platform is here to offer a beginning for those early in their creative career. All the photogs involved made this happen. Thanks to everyone involved and @finishline x @puma for the opportunity. #MNPuma was one of the biggest events we’ve worked on. Shit ain’t over, we just getting started. You don’t have to be part of “lists” to make you feel like someone. We here for y’all. Chicago is segregated as it is, that’s why we started @modernnotoriety, to offer a platform that will give a voice to those that wanna be heard through their visuals. I was one of them, got kept under the shade a decade ago and it is what motivated me to start this in 2011. See y’all at the next one ✌???? #modernnotoriety Past: Through the Lens: #tangomn x @adidasfootball Through the Lens: #atricmn x @adidasoriginals Through the Lens: #MNPuma x @finishline Preciate y’all: @swipernoswiping_ @rafdezzz @andreasendregaard @estevansta @jubecha @igobyvincent @everythingfvry @sky2.16 @jimmykurz @kato1337 @lissyxcam @ellen.mariee @kaii.011 @lili_fang @wrizal @grizp @stevensjpeg @j_biri @sessionswithjp @rbanez3 @tabbyy.jpg @organic_eyes @radley.q @jonfromchicago @genkai_the3rd @jermangos @chitown_cody @_jessevisuals_ @sadboijavi @kevo.28 @chet_g @yxdt @stevecannon_ @denden7k @_dannyphoto_ @_jordanbunch

Pump up your sneaker collection with Puma at FinishLine.com.

This past year Puma has been celebrating 50 years of their staple Suede Classic. In commemoration of the occasion the brand has dropped several killer collabs with the likes of Big Sean, The Weeknd, Karl Lagerfeld and tons more. This time around Puma is teaming up with ‘The Choice of a New Generation’—Pepsi. The two giants will join forces for a collection of eye-catching apparel and footwear. You’ll get two options of the iconic Puma Suede, one dressed in ‘Clean Blue/Silver’ and the other in ‘Black/Silver.’ Both colorways feature Pepsi branding on the tongue as well as the lateral and medial sides of the shoes. You’ll be able to complete the fit with your choice of the hoodie, pant and tee that round out the collection.

Be on the lookout for the Puma Suede Classic x Pepsi on 10/25 and the rest of the collection at Finish Line.

To honor the 50th anniversary of the Suede, PUMA paired up with one of the most outrageous rock legends in a new collaboration. Paul Stanley, known best for performing as the front man in rock band Kiss with his wild black and white makeup and crazy hair, teamed up with PUMA to create a sneaker that is just as wild as Stanley used to be. Drawing inspiration from both the black and white makeup that is synonymous with his signature stage persona and KISS’s multi platinum album Animalize, the Suede base material is debossed with zebra print and silver leather Formstrip. Rendered with red leather heel tab and off-white outsole, these sneakers are sure to define those who make tracks whether-some punk with Paul Stanley lace hoops.

Grab your pair of the PUMA Suede Classic ‘Paul Stanley’ on September 27th at Finishline.com.

We’re honing in on the details of this next Puma #DEFY release in collaboration with Selena Gomez. It’s been a year since Selena partnered up with the global sports brand and this specific release is special to the singer. The DEFY x SG is very close to Selena’s heart because the proceeds will be donated to a Lupus Research Fund Selena started. Sporting a light grey colorway with white details on the midsole, we’re loving this chunkier silhouette from Puma for your everyday lifestyle.

The normally vibrant and flashy PUMA Thunder series is getting a clean monochrome make over. Inspired by 90’s running designs and Alexander McQueen collaborations, the Thunder Spectra fuses sport and fashion, given additional structure and support by its molded TPU system. The PUMA form-stripe runs parallel along the lateral sides of the shoe whilst the medial sides portray more a fashion-like aesthetic. This new Desert duo offers a combination of nubuck, leather, and suede with muted snakeskin detailing arriving on the formstripe, heel, and lower throat for a muted, yet still luxurious touch. The white pair’s chunky sneaker midsole features a combination of white, tan, and sail, while the black pair opts for a completely blacked-out look with its solid-colored take. Both iterations are completed with de-bossed branding on the tongue and heel, and a set of tonal laces.

Grab your pairs of the PUMA Thunder Desert on August 9th at Finishline.com.

Adding a third style to their “Thunder” collection, PUMA is dropping the first two colorways of the Thunder Desert. This sneaker follows the same chunky, dad shoe style of the Thunder Spectra and the Thunder Electric, but with a more subdued appearance.

Unlike the first two drops of the collection, the Thunder Desert lacks the bold colors and metallic touches, but it makes up for it with fresh neutral colors, suede and textured leather overlays, and chunky soles. It’s a winning combination that makes this our favorite PUMA dad shoe to date for men and women alike.

The HYBRID Rocket has been in the making for several years now, with the team working to develop the biggest running technology to date. After months of teases and exclusive events around the globe, PUMA has finally lifted the lid on the new shoe, giving life to the HYBRID Rocket Runner. During your run, the Ignite Foam reacts immediately upon impact, providing the first level of energy return. The NRGY beads then come into play by providing cushioning, giving back to the Ignite Foam, absorbing energy, and creating an additional rebound effect as you lift off your stride. The technologies create HYBRID, a new and revolutionary sole. The silhouette also offers a bit of flair in its design, sporting a sleek, fashion-forward design with vibrant colors.

You can grab your pair of the PUMA Hybrid Rocket Runner on July 12th at Finishline.com.

The chunky sneaker trend is here with the upcoming style from Puma. Ladies, keep up with the latest trend and add the Puma Thunder Electric to your rotation for the summer months. Coming in a Pink Lavender and Grey Violet the colorways are complimentary to this sneaker’s design.

Inspired by ’90s fashion, like McQueen trainers, the Thunder Electric boasts color contrasting a multi-layered midsole and bold proportions. You will definitely catch eyes in this style.

Ladies, grab your pair of the PUMA Thunder Electric on June 28th at Finishline.com.

PUMA continues to push the future retro cool with the RS-0 Play that’s inspired by ’80s video games and arcades. With a totally new silhouette the RS-0 range has a future look that greatly resembles the past. This fun pack plays with color pops and translucent details. The key style boasting in primary colors features a leather upper with subtle perforations on the vamp and a tonal embossed Formstrip. Red and yellow padded inserts inspired by game console buttons are featured on the midsole while the outsole has a modern color-blocking design. R-System logos are present on the tongue and outsole. Leather uppers adorn the two pairs with subtle perforations as well as tonally embossed Puma Formstrips. One of the key elements included on each of the designs you see below are the multi-colored padded inserts seen on the midsoles that are representative of game console buttons from the past.

If you’re in the Denver area on June 23rd, 2018, then you’re going to want to stop by the Finish Line at Park Meadows for a special event around the PUMA RS-0 PLAY. If you try the shoes on, you will gain entry to the gaming lounge where your skills will be put to the test in head to head gameplay of Sonic Mania. If you are in the hot seat the longest, you’ll win either an XBOX ONE or PS4. Get in the head to head battle but can’t quite be crowned champion? you’ll get a scratch-off ticket that reveals your prize. You could walk away with a customized console controller (PS4 or XBOX ONE), five pair of PUMA kicks or some PUMA swag that includes water bottles, headphones and a blue tooth speaker. If you love the kicks so much and cop a pair, you’ll get a copy of SEGA Genesis Classics for either PS4 or XBOX ONE.

Make sure you come through the Denver store and check out the new PUMA RS-0 Play for men and women and enjoy some music from the DJ and get your gamer on.
