Home / Kyrie Irving

The next pair of Nike Kyrie 4’s to drop were debuted to the world by someone else than Kyrie Irving. When Jayson Tatum hit the court in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, he debuted the Nike Kyrie 4 ‘Power Is Female’ to the world. While Kyrie has been injured for the most of the second-half of the season, his teammates; Tatum and Terry Rozier have been breaking out some insane colorways of his signature shoe. This iteration of Kyrie Irving‘s fourth sneaker sees a mix of Aqua and Neo-turquoise along its upper. Orange speckles are added to the midsole as White is added to the outsole unit. A detailed message is added to the upper as the phrases ‘Power is Female’ and ‘We Are a New Generation’ are embossed throughout. The message continues on the heel with a basketball twist added to the female gender symbol.

Kyrie Irving may be done for the year after having knee surgery but his signature kicks are still hitting shelves. The season started off strong for Kyrie and his Boston Celtics but unfortunately the Celtics will have to make their push for the Championship without Irving. Irvings fourth signature sneaker has had a strong run since it was debuted back in January and this next release comes in a super clean colorway. With summer on the way, clean kicks are a must for any sneakerhead and this next Kyrie 4 comes dressed in a Pitch Blue and Metallic Gold color scheme.  This Nike Kyrie 4 comes with contrasting stripes on the toe box and a raised graphic print around the heel. Metallic Gold Nike Swoosh logos, a White midsole, hits of Celtics Green atop a Gum rubber outsole completes the design.

Kyrie isn’t with the Cavaliers anymore but that doesn’t clear out all of the memorable moments and plays that he made with the team. Their 2016 run in the NBA Finals is definitely one for the record books, as they came back from a 3-1 deficit and defeated the Golden State Warriors. While Uncle Drew may be sidelined for the year, Nike is remembering his history with the Cleveland Cavaliers and it will be honored through the Nike Kyrie 4 ’41 for the Ages’. This Kyrie 4 features a Black upper with Crimson colored accents. It’s a nod to his 41 point game in Game 5, which is referenced with a pile of bricks on the heel tab. Those bricks are encouraging to true scores as they tell you to keep shooting.

A woodgrain hit is wrapped around the upper that could pay homage to the illustrious parquet floor that has become famous at the Celtic’s TD Garden. Through the last couple of years, sneaker brands have celebrated and honored historic moments through colorways and special designs. While athletes have become more involved in what’s going on in the world, they have began to use their platform to make it known that they’re taking a stand on how they feel about certain causes. LeBron James started the NBA season by stepping out on the court in his signature shoe with “EQUALITY” stitched into the heels. Most recently, Nike Basketball and Jordan Brand are celebrating Black History Month with the message of EQUALITY through special colorways on the LeBron 15, KD X, Kyrie 3 and Air Jordan Retro 1 and Air Force 1 Low CMFT.

The Nike LeBron 15 features a black, red and green Flyknit upper which is meant to honor the Pan-African flag. Metallic Gold “BHM” logos appear on the tongues and insole to make sure the message is known. One of the shock absorbers on the sole of the sneaker is inscribed with the date 07-13-2016 in gold which represents the day James, along with Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, and current Cavalier teammate Dwyane Wade stood up at the ESPY’s to give a speech about equality and ending violence.

Kyrie Irving’s signature sneaker, the Nike Kyrie 4 is one of the star footwear styles in the lineup. His Black History Month sneaker features a white-based hue across its knitted and leather upper that is detailed with the word “Equality” embossed across the whole shoe. A white midsole, black lining and a nod to the Pan-African flag with red, black and green hues are seen on the outsoles to complete the theme altogether.

Kevin Durant just hit the career milestone of scoring 20,000 points and now his signature sneaker is getting the Black History Month treatment. The KD X features a black-based upper with with red and green knit detailing. Its midsole dons the colors of the Pan-African flag colors and is complimented by metallic gold branding. 05-06-2014 is embossed in gold on the medial side of the shoe right above the midsole. This date represents the day that Kevin Durant won his NBA MVP and the mayor of Oklahoma City, Mary Fallin, declared it ‘Kevin Durant Day’ as a gesture of gratitude to KD’s contributions to the community.

The Nike Air Force 1 ‘Equality’ sports an all-black leather upper with the word “EQUALITY” in white printed on the heels. These have a premium feel thanks to the tumbled leather tongue label and historical dates in Metallic Gold on the inner tongues. Nike’s signature CMFT insoles and a translucent outsole completes the design.
