Like we saw on the Travis Scott x Air Force 1, the option to create your own look with interchangeable Nike Swooshes. Now, Nike is taking that creative option and applying it to one of their staple shoes, the Nike Air Foamposite Pro. Like every All Star week over the years, Nike is packing the week full of releases that have everyone debating if they break the bank on every release or play it safe and save some cash by only buying their must-haves.
This years Nike Air Foamposite Pro ‘All Star’ edition is an exclusive iteration of the silhouette this season, and it’s highlighted with removable Swoosh and heel logos. Coming with the choice of four Swoosh options – black, silver, bronze, and turquoise. If a simpler look is preferred, he or she can rid the look of a Swoosh insert all together and leave it with a flattened out white Swoosh. The signature carbon fiber shank in the midsole and milky translucent outsole completes the design altogether.
The word iconic gets thrown around a lot, especially in the sneaker world, but there are some sneakers that can hold that title undoubtedly. Styles like the Air Max 1, Air Jordan 1, Air Force 1, Air Jordan 11, Chuck Taylor All Star, and of course the Air Jordan 3. Back in ’88, the Air Jordan 3 was cooked up by “The Architect”, Tinker Hatfield and it was only the beginning of his and Michael Jordans infamous partnership. As most sneaker lovers would tell you, there are certain design aspects that make shoes stand out, others would say that it’s the big moments in culture or on the court and the Air Jordan 3 has all of those areas covered. From seeing that elephant print when a fresh pair was brought out of the box to MJ taking off from the free throw line and delivering the most iconic, gravity-defying moment in sports history, the Jordan 3 sits on a pedestal for a lot of people.
As years have passed and MJ has moved on from dominating the hardwood, his legacy lives on through his sneakers. Nostalgia is one of the biggest ways to take a person back to that very special moment when they first saw a sneaker or make them replay Mike taking off from the free throw line in their head and remembering it like it had just happened. Now, on the 30th anniversary of MJ’s legendary dunk contest performance, Jordan Brand is dropping the ‘Black Cement’ Retro 3 in true OG fashion. If you’re a diehard Jordan fan, then you already know that these shoes released originally in 1988, 1994, 2001, 2008 and lastly back in 2011. This may seem like overkill but this sneaker is one that can never be released enough.
Aside from being a court icon, the Air Jordan 3 became a pop culture legend over the years as it became the focus in numerous hip-hop lyrics and big moments. Jay-Z kicked off his Blue Print Tour in 2o09 with a fresh pair of ‘Black Cement’ 3’s. Jordans very own, Drake has name dropped the brand numerous times in his songs but one of his best is “I’m back in my bag. My eyes bloodshot but my jet don’t lag. A pair of Jordan 3’s tryna’ chase this cash. Gucci airbag just in case we crash.”
It seems like sneakerheads have been waiting for this drop for years, and now as we’re only a week away from it the biggest decision for you to make is how many you plan on coppin’. The release of the Air Jordan Retro 3 ‘Black Cement’ will come dressed in its original Black, Cement Grey, White and Fire Red color scheme that is so well known. They’ll come complete with classic ‘Nike Air’ branding at the heel and outsole that so many have been wanting over the years. To compliment the colorway you’ll see a fire red tongue lining which is a signature seen on the colorway to complete the legendary look for the ‘Black Cement’ 3s. The icing on the cake is that JB will be dropping these on MJ’s 55th birthday.
Jordan Brand is coming out swinging to start 2018 and they’re bringing out the heat to kick off the new year. As if JB wasn’t breaking enough peoples wallets over All Star Weekend by dropping the highly anticipated Air Jordan Retro 3 ‘Black Cement’, Air Jordan XXXII ‘Free throw Line’, Jordan Why Not Zer0.1, and now the Air Jordan Retro 1 High OG ‘NRG’ to be the icing on the cake. Back in December, JB shut the internet down when they debuted the Air Jordan 1 “Gold Top 3” that released at ComplexCon, and this next colorway is a compliment to that pair.
The Air Jordan Retro 1 High OG ‘NRG’ or ‘Gold Toe’, comes dressed up in a luxurious patent leather construction, mixing together white, gold, and black as they all compliment each other. You’ll notice that the color blocking is reminiscent of the brand’s mid 80’s aesthetic and gives the sneaker a nostalgic feel while its color scheme keeps it propelled forward into a different style appeal. With these being a must-have pair for many sneakerheads, we will be releasing these IN SELECT STORES & and with your best chance to cop being through the Finish Line app. Download the app now for Apple or GooglePlay. Get at us ‘Bron.
Those shoes aren’t the only thing that they’ve dropped. The highly anticipated album, C U L T U R E I I hit airwaves back in January and have dominated the charts and every radio station in the world. One of the hottest songs on the album is ‘Stir Fry’ which features the music legend, Pharrell and is also the song of NBA All-Star Weekend if you haven’t heard.
Not only will the hiphop trifecta be stompin’ around the city, but they’ll be doing it in some of the hottest sneakers that are dropping that weekend. Like they do every year, there’s a celebrity game that takes place on Friday night and H U N C H O is hitting the court this year. By now you’ve probably seen the numerous videos of Quavo hitting the court with some serious players and now he’s taking his talents to LA and looks to bring home that MVP hardware.
Last night we teamed up with @UnderArmour and @CapitolRecords to host an event of epic proportions. With DJ Envy on the ones and twos to set the pace early in the evening and performances from the LA Leakers and Zaytoven, how much better could it get? You know we had to do it the F I N I S H L I N E W A Y and get the big dogs here and set it off the right way ???????????? aka D A T W A Y. With the Culture II set up on the stage, everyone knew it was coming, but when Migos hit the stage, the atmosphere was electrifying beyond words. It felt like all of LA was vibin’ with us.
When it comes to NBA All-Star Weekend, Nike never holds back on their story telling and sneaker releases that are usually some of the biggest of the year. 2018 is going to be no different from Nike Hoops as they look to drop special signature sneakers that will be worn in the All-Star game that is taking place in the ever popular, Los Angeles. As their big four of Kyrie Irving, Paul George, Kevin Durant and LeBron James look to dominate the game with their style of play and their signature sneaker style, Nike is getting extra creative for this moment. Each sneaker represents a part of the city through a special colorway or standout feature to really catch peoples eyes.
Kyrie Irving and Nike Basketball will be celebrating this year’s NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles with a special edition Nike Kyrie 4 All-Star as Kyrie makes his fifth appearance in the game. This Nike Kyrie 4 sports a black and white tie-dye pattern throughout the upper. What makes this sneaker really pop is the purple details that are used on the embroidered Nike Swoosh, while pink and blue appears on the tongue Kyrie logo and outsole. Like the KD X, this pair represents another specific location in Los Angeles, as the insoles have graphics of Venice Beach. They also point out that Kyrie is a “5x All-Star” on the insoles of the sneakers.
We will be dropping this very clean collection in our flagship stores ONLY. The three stores that will be carrying these shoes are:
Back at the beginning of December, Russell Westbrook broke out his signature shoe for the first time in an NBA game against his hometown team, the Los Angeles Lakers. Talk about a special way to debut your first shoe to the world. The Brodie his the court in the Why Not Zer0.1 ‘Mirror Image’ Player Edition. This shoe continued the tradition of personal storytelling through colorways that JB is so well known for. The Why Not Zer0.1 emulates Westbrook’s competitive attitude on the court, his tendency to run at a challenge head first rather than shying away from it. Serving a dual purpose, the upcoming silhouette fits the reigning MVP’s drastic demands on the court while suiting his eccentric personal style off the court.
Always playing on his toes, Westbrook needs added stability to his sole unit in order to minimize response when he makes one of his quick twitch drives to the basket he has become famous for. In order to come up with the perfect fit, Westbrook worked closely with Jordan Brand’s design team and the Thunder equipment manager, Wilson Taylor, as they wnt through multiple rounds of wear-testing to get the perfect fit. Equally as important as it functionality, the Why Not Zer0.1 serves an aesthetic purpose as well, as Brodie’s off-court wardrobe is a story to follow in itself.
The story telling of All-Star Weekend continues from Jordan Brand as the Air Jordan Retro 9 joins the ‘City Of Flight’ group. This story began with the Air Jordan Retro 1 back in the beginning of January and will run up through ASW. Each shoe has the streets of L.A. mapped on the insoles of the shoes to honor the city in which the game is being hosted. The classic model features a clean and simple two-tone colorway in black nubuck and white leather with semi-translucent outsoles and what appear to be reflective-striped laces. They’re finished with a map of the LA area on the insoles. With so many releases happening around All-Star Weekend, you’re wallet better be ready and you better start deciding which ones you want.
