The latest Reebok Question release pays tribute to A.I.’s Olympic career
The 2004 Olympic men’s basketball competition was something of an aberration.
The Athens Olympics marks the only time since 1992 — when NBA talent was permitted to participate — that the United States didn’t capture the gold medal.
There were only two All-Stars on the team, which is the fewest in any U.S. squad since 1992. Those two men were Tim Duncan and Allen Iverson.
Iverson was at the peak of his powers early-to-mid-2000s. He had carried the Philadelphia 76ers to the NBA Finals in 2001, the same season he won the league’s Most Valuable Player award.
His Olympics numbers aren’t as flashy as his NBA career statistics, but as co-captain of the national team in Athens he led the U.S. in scoring with 13.8 points per game in the way to the bronze medal.
Bubba Chuck wore number 4 in international play, which features prominently on the latest Reebok release commemorating AI’s career.
The Reebok Question Mid ‘USA #4’ lands right in the middle of the pandemic-postponed Summer Games in Tokyo.
This new version of Iverson’s iconic signature model comes with a nubuck upper in navy tones, with red highlights and trim atop a white midsole for that real American-flag look.
Iverson’s jersey number features on the lower heels of the pair as a nod to his Athens campaign.
