Push boundaries with the New Balance Vision Racer designed by Jaden Smith

While he may have arrived on the scene playing his real-life dad Will Smith’s on-screen son in 2006’s The Pursuit of Happyness, Jaden Smith has made his own name in entertainment and culture.

The actor, rapper and songwriter has three studio albums, three mixtapes and a handful of feature films to his name and even launched a vegan food truck in Los Angeles last year to help feed Angelenos experiencing homelessness.

Now he’s turned his unique style and inspiration to the sneaker world, linking with iconic lifestyle shoemaker New Balance on a new silhouette that fits his unapologetic look to a T.

Meet: The New Balance Vision Racer.

Inspired by two existing New Balance models, the trail runner-esque casual X-Racer and the 1700, a subtle walking shoe that’s said to be Jaden’s favorite heritage NB silhouette, the Vision Racer boasts bold styling and that trendy, chunky aesthetic.

From the pillowy midsole cushioning to the “speed marks” New Balance logos at the heels, this is one pair of kicks that will turn heads no matter where you go.

The newest edition, intended to bring some vibrant color into your Summer wardrobe, features a white upper with colorful overlays.

Completing the look is its name “Vision Racer” stamped in a rainbow gradient on the bottoms of the shoes beneath a translucent rubber outsole.

It’s a sneaker that pushes the boundaries of design as well as New Balance’s manufacturing process: each element of the Vision Racer from upper to midsole incorporates recycled materials, and is certified vegan-friendly. With many companies working to incorporate more sustainability into their footwear programs, this is a strong step forward for New Balance.
