Celebrate one of college basketball’s great programs with the Air Jordan 3 Retro ‘Midnight Navy’

Patrick Ewing. Allen Iverson. Dikembe Mutombo. Alonzo Mourning.

Some all-time NBA greats made the leap from college to the pros after a stint at Georgetown University.

The Hoyas have a rich history of success in NCAA Division I men’s basketball, winning a national championship in 1984 and getting to the final game of the big dance in 1943, 1982 and 1985.

While freshman center Ewing filled up the box score for Georgetown, the ’82 national championship game lives on in the memories of basketball fans as the coming-out party of one Michael Jordan, whose bucket with 15 seconds remaining secured the title for the University of North Carolina.

Ewing would of course go on to taste national championship success himself just two seasons later by beating the University of Houston Cougars after dispatching Sam Bowie and the Kentucky Wildcats in the Final Four.

Both Ewing and Iverson would eventually become number 1 overall picks in the NBA Draft, bound for the Naismith Hall of Fame and cementing Georgetown’s legacy as a breeding ground for NBA talent.

And there are few bigger acknowledgements of the strength of your program than to have the gold standard of hoops culture recognition — a Jordan Brand colorway — based off your school’s colors.

The Hoyas’ traditional blue and grey, official school colors since they were worn by the Georgetown College Boat Club in 1876, have been splashed on a number of sneaker models, predominantly from the Jumpman stable but also on Iverson’s signature Reebok Question Mid.
