Forge your own path in the upcoming Ninja x adidas collection
For those of us who grew up in the ’90s (or even earlier), “playing video games as a job” was rarefied air.
To our parents, it was surely unfathomable that sitting in front of the TV, mashing buttons on a joypad or controller, cursing every “Game Over” screen and putting hours into keeping pixelated characters alive could possibly constitute paid employment, not to mention worldwide fame and fortune.
But if what you want doesn’t exist, create it yourself. That’s what pioneers from Dennis “Thresh” Fong to Tyler “Ninja” Blevins have done, making a passion for gaming into a lucrative career.
Professional gaming surged in popularity in the late ’90s in South Korea, but gamers like Ninja helped bring esports to the mainstream consciousness, even becoming the first gamer to feature on the cover of ESPN the Magazine.
Last year, Ninja broke more new ground, debuting a Nite Jogger sneaker in collaboration with adidas.
The Nite Jogger was the perfect fit for the collab: He was forging his own path in the sneaker game just as the Three Stripes did in the 80s when they added reflective materials to a running shoe for the first time.
Now Ninja and adidas are back at it with more additions to the “Time In” collection, which takes its name from what you’ve gotta do to succeed: put the time in.
The collection includes two new Nite Jogger colorways as well as some more revitalized ’80s heat in the form of the adidas ZX Torsion.
One of the Nite Joggers is dressed in a stealthy black upper on top of a matching black Boost midsole. One shoe features blue toebox pinstripes and laces while the other utilizes pink highlights. Neon green dubraes imprinted with “Time In” add some subtle Ninja branding to the pair.
The other Nite Jogger is more in-your-face, boasting an Amber Tint upper with hits of bright Tactilora yellow and Trace Royal blue, a nod to Ninja’s 2019 release of the same silhouette.
The Ninja-endorsed ZX Torsion models also come in mild and wild colorways, both incorporating Boost midsoles and Ninja’s motto on the lace locks. One comes in shades of grey with red and Blue Glow highlights, while the other shines with off-white and Glory Purple with neon yellow pops of color.
Whether your passion is esports or sneakers, there’s something in this collection for everyone.
So put the time in to your rotation when the Ninja x adidas Nite Jogger and ZX Torsion collaborations release in Men’s and Big Kids’ sizing at FinishLine.com on 10/14.
