Throwback Thursday: Top Ten NBA Lottery Moments
“The Decision” Aftermath
2011 – After “The Decision” by King James to take his talents to South Beach, Cleveland basketball was in disarray. They’d go 19-63, but would win the lottery with Dan Gilbert’s 14-year-old son Nick representing the team. The Cavs would pick Duke star Kyrie Irving, the clear number one pick in the draft. Kyrie would become one of the elite guards in the NBA, and when LeBron made his next decision to return to Cleveland, the two would dominate. They won the Chip in 2016, overcoming a 3-1 lead against the Golden State Warriors. Things wouldn’t work out between Kyrie and LeBron though, and he moved on to the Celtics in 2017.
