The Answer (and a few other notables)

1996 โ€“ โ€™96 was an exciting year in Philly. In โ€™95, the Sixers selected UNC star Jerry Stackhouse with the third pick in the draft. Stack was proclaimed by many to be the next Jordan, which obviously didnโ€™t pan out. In โ€™96, the Sixers won the lottery and selected Allen Iverson, the super-talented guard from Georgetown. Iverson fit in perfectly in Philly, and he and Stackhouse gelled well together. After Iverson, the rest of the draft class wasnโ€™t half bad. Marcus Camby went to the Raptors at #2. Shareef Abdur-Raheem went to the Grizzlies at #3. The Bucks picked Stephon Marbury and then traded him to Minnesota for Ray Allen (the fifth pick). The Celtics took Antoine Walker at #6. Villanova star Kerry Kittles went to the Nets at #8. The Hornets picked Kobe Bryant thirteenth, then traded him to the Lakers. Steve Nash fell all the way to fifteenth. Jermaine Oโ€™Neal went seventeenth. Derek Fisher went twenty-fourth. Needless to say, it was one of the deepest, most talented draft classes ever.
