Greg Oden/KD

2007 – The poor Blazers. With an opportunity to atone for their mistake in ’84, the Blazers had the top pick, and a sure-fire winner with Ohio State phenom center Greg Oden. Oden was punishing defenders in his one year of college, and seemed like the right move over the super-skinny Kevin Durant. The basketball gods would not look favorably on Portland, however, as Oden would miss his first season with knee surgery. Knee injuries would continue to plague the big man, and he never lived up to his potential. Durant, picked second by the SuperSonics (now the Thunder), obviously lived up to the hype and has flourished.
