We can’t mention events happening in 2017 without mentioning sneakers. 2017 marks the 20th anniversary of the Nike Air Foamposite One and Nike Air Foamposite Pro, and the dope colorways on this model are continuing to roll in. This iconic model began to pick up traction amongst sneaker enthusiasts during the mid-late 2000s and hasn’t looked back since.
The Nike Air Foamposite was originally unveiled to the world by the Arizona Wildcat’s Mike Bibby, during the 1997 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament and has since become a classic model from the swoosh. For those unaware, the Foamposite technology was created by Nike’s Eric Avar, was originally intended for Scottie Pippen, but ended up going to Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway. The Foamposite technology is extremely durable and provides its wearers with a snug fit that molds to the wearers foot over time; this sneaker’s durability is probably why the streets, rappers like Wale, and people from New York and the DMV (Washington D.C., Maryland, & Virginia) were so quick to embrace this classic model.
Since the inception of Foamposite technology, it’s been featured on numerous signature models from Penny’s to Lebron’s, and has even made its way into a few Jordan’s and cross-trainers.
