Victor Oladipo has a lot on his plate these days. The star shooting guard was recently traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder and named the face of the Jordan Extra.Fly. He has the obvious commitments like practice, games, travel, and training. On top of that are media appearances, photo shoots, and community service events. It would have been completely normal and acceptable if, in preparation for his 4th season in the NBA Vic had spent the precious few days between the the NBA’s preseason and regular season settling into his new city, recharging with friends and family.
But for Vic aka “Mr. Feathery”, free time is time to give back. Oladipo, Jordan Brand, and Finish Line partnered to make the most of Vic’s down time on Friday, October 21st. We picked Mr. Feathery up after practice and headed straight to the Memorial Park Boys & Girls club in OKC. Oladipo introduced himself as the new guy in town. With no script or preparation, Oladipo gave the kids a heartfelt speech (see the transcript below).
Following the speech, Oladipo hosted shooting contests in which the winners received autographed pairs of the Jordan Extra.Fly. Vic proudly autographed the shoes that he played a key role in developing and will wear on court this season.
Next stop was a trip to the Penn Square mall Finish Line where Oladipo took photos with Thunder fans, autographed pairs of Extra.Fly and even bought his smallest fan a pair.

Victor Oladipo’s words of wisdom to OKC youth:
“I know ya’ll probably hear stuff all the time but this is coming from me, from my heart.
Everybody sitting here is special.
There’s nothing different about me just because I play in the NBA. I have the same two ears, one nose, two eyes, one mouth that you guys have.
Whatever you guys want to do in life, if you want to play basketball like me, if you want to play football, if you want to be a doctor, if you want to be a lawyer, if you want to be a teacher or a news reporter, whatever you guys want to do in life, you can do it.
I’m living proof of it. All you have to do is believe in yourself.
There’s going to be people in the world who tell you that you can’t accomplish what you want and what your dreams are.
Don’t let them win. If I listened to all the people who told me I couldn’t play in the NBA, I wouldn’t be standing here today.
If I had a dollar for every time somebody told me that I’d be a rich man. But at the end of the day I didn’t listen to them.
You dictate whether your dream comes true or not. Even the little kids, the littlest of kids can change the world now.
How? By just simply being you. Don’t let anybody change who you are.”
