7. Hassan Whiteside
The Miami Heat big man seemed to come out of nowhere last season, but he’s certainly no stranger to the NBA or the D-League. Drafted by the Sacramento Kings out of Marshall in the second round of the 2010 NBA Draft, Whiteside has 65 D-League games under his belt with several teams, including the Reno Big Horns, Sioux Falls Skyforce, Rio Grande Valley Vipers and the Iowa Energy. He caught the eye of the Heat during the 2014-15 season when he hung 26 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks on their D-League affiliate squad. The rest, as they say, is history, as Whiteside will probably cash out on a max contract this summer. For his D-League career, Whiteside averaged 7.2 points. 5.5 rebounds and 2.3 blocks.
