Yet again Jordan Brand is bringing back an old school pack for a new generation. The original pack that released back in ’95 paid tribute to some of Jordan’s most competitive match-ups in the league. His fierce competitiveness and will to win every time he stepped on the court is what made Jordan the most feared man in the game. Jordan built a reputation in those cities for making every game memorable and now this pack honors the cities that Jordan has a big presence in.
The last release we got of the City Pack was the Air Jordan 10 “NYC” whose colorway was inspired by the Statue of Liberty. The next two installments in the City Pack are the “Chicago” and “LA” colorways. These colorways don’t honor the NBA team that is in the city, but they honor significant elements of the prestigious locations.
The Air Jordan Retro 10 “Chicago” gets decked out in a white, university blue, and light crimson colorway. When you think of the Jordan Retro 10 in a Chicago theme, you usually think of the Bulls colorway that Mike wore when he returned to the hardwood. This color scheme actually is meant to commemorate the Chicago city flag that is seen all around the city. Jordan spent most of his professional career in Chicago, so honoring the Chi with a sneaker colorway that is dressed like the flag is something we don’t seen done very often.
Los Angeles wasn’t involved in the last City Pack but over the years Jordan Brand has had an overwhelming presence in the city. With Lakers dominating the sports world in downtown L.A., JB decided to pay tribute with a colorway that isn’t sports related. Being so close to the ocean is a big part of the city and the fog that comes off the water is a feature we wouldn’t expect Jordan to honor. The Air Jordan Retro 10 “LA” is covered in an ocean fog, blue lagoon, and white colorway. The solid white bottom with midnight navy stripes compliments the blue upper so nicely that these will go with any outfit.
