A beautiful love triangle developed in the 2006 NFL draft. The college football world was still reeling from a last minute touchdown by Texas Longhorn QB,Vince Young, to knock off a perennial powerhouse of the University of Southern California Trojans in the Rose Bowl. Stars from both sides of the Bowl entered the draft that year, including QB Vince Young and RB Reggie Bush.
With two offensive studs entering the draft, most eyes were on the Houston Texans to select QB and Houston native, Vince Young. Bush and Young were both favored by many experts to be taken by the Texans with the 1st overall pick as they could provide the most impact to a down Houston offense. Ultimately in the days leading up to the draft a new name emerged as the front runner for the Texans, a defensive end named Mario Williams out of NC State. With both Bush and Young making a name for themselves in the spotlight, it’s only fitting that Houston picked from the shade.
