At last, Jordan Brand is bringing back the Space Jam sneaker campaign, but not with the one sneaker you’re thinking of. The original Air Jordan 5 was released in February of 1990 and was the first Jordan to have clear rubber soles. It was also the first time they used molded foam in a shoe upper. The shoe is probably best known for its fighter jet design influences and the 3m material that would reflect when light hit it, helping MJ stunt when the cameras flashed.
Even with all the technological advances in shoes, nostalgia is still one of the biggest connections with sneakerheads. Any Jordan fan knows that Mike teamed up with the Looney Tunes in the 1996 animated movie. Once again, JB is honoring the film with another signature shoe to kick off the summer season in style. The Air Jordan Retro 5 “Pro Stars” is a clean silhouette of warm weather color tones and sentimental Jordan heritage.
Make sure you grab a pair of the “Space Jam” Air Jordan Retro 5 at 10am on Saturday, June 6th at Finishline.com.
