The Big Ten is proving to be one of the most competitive conferences this season, with half of their teams being ranked in the top 25. This week, we are looking forward to what should be a hard fought matchup between the Minnesota Golden Gophers and the Indiana Hoosiers.
Last year, the unranked Golden Gophers pulled off the upset against the 7th ranked Hoosiers, who were coming off wins against number 1 ranked Kentucky and number 2 ranked Ohio State. The unlikely victors were also without star forward Trevor Mbakwe, and were playing in Indiana’s Assembly Hall where the Hoosiers had one their first 11 games. Needless to say, last year’s game left a sour taste in mouths of the Indiana Hoosiers and this time around they will be seeking vengeance. The Hoosiers once again have home court advantage, which they will indeed need to take advantage of with Trevor Mbakwe once again back in the Golden Gopher’s starting lineup.
Statistically speaking, the Hoosiers should not have too much trouble offensively, the team being ranked number one in points per game this season so far. However, if the Golden Gophers can take care of the ball on the offensive end and hold the Hoosiers from scoring every possession, it should be a very close game, and Minnesota just might pull off the upset. So don’t make plans on January 12th, and watch this classic matchup between the Big Ten’s Indiana Hoosiers and Minnesota Golden Gophers at Noon Eastern Time.
