Whether you’re going for a run on the trails, working on total fitness or about to tackle a weight training circuit, there’s always room for some motivation. So, for a little boost and something to put some pep in your step, we put together a list of songs to help you power through your workout.

1. Macklemore – “Can’t Hold Us”

Right now, Macklemore is “feel good” song king, and this song is the perfect pick-me-up when you’re not quite feeling up to it.

2. Justin Timberlake – “Mirrors”

A solid track for all 8-minutes of its duration, Justin Timberlake doesn’t disappoint when it comes to delivering motivating music.

3. Drake – “Started From The Bottom”

This is a more motivational piece in that the lyrics are inherently inspiring. Nothing like reminding yourself how far you’ve come with the lyrics “started from the bottom, now [I'm] here.”

4. Demi Lovato – “Heart Attack”

If you completely disregard the title of this song, this hard-hitting melody is sure to fire you up.

5. MS MR – “Hurricane”

This is another one where it probably wouldn’t be the best idea to pay too much attention to the title. Aside from that, this airy track would be best heard out running on a scenic trail.

6. Icona Pop - “I Love It”

Need a reminder why you’re running, Icona Pop’s got the answer. “[You] love it.”

7. Daft Punk – “Get Lucky”

You might think this one’s got a time and place when it’d be better suited, but it’s always the right time for some Daft Punk.

So, add these to your music library, check out and grab a new pair of shoes from FinishLine.com and get back into the running groove.

Summer is so close that we can almost smell it. Chances are, you are going to need a new running shoe to kick off your summer training. What do you…

Summer is so close that we can almost smell it. Chances are, you are going to need a new running shoe to kick off your summer training. What do you need to look for to ensure that you get the best summer runner possible? The best summer runners are lightweight and highly breathable to ensure that your feet stay as cool and dry as possible. Luckily for you, Finishline.com has a number of runners that are summer training approved. Check out our list below, which features some great summer runners for both the men and the women.

For the Guys:

Nike Free 5.0+

Part of the reason that the Nike Free line has been so popular is that each new model that Nike comes out with is better than the last. The Nike Free 5.0+ is no exception, because some technical updates to the upper of this shoe makes for quite possibly the best Free yet. Equipped with Dynamic Flywire, the Free 5.0+ has a lock down fit that moves along with the motions of your foot, not against. The result is a better fit, more support, and overall a more comfortable running shoe.

Puma Mobium

Featuring the revolutionary Mobium band, the Puma Mobium is Puma’s latest running shoe that answers the call to the natural motion running trend. The Mobium band acts similar to the tendon in the foot, expanding and contracting as your foot does to promote efficiency and energy return. Giving you the most out of each stride, if you are a runner with a high arch, this is the shoe for you.

Under Armour Spine Venom

Weighing an astonishing 8.75 ounces, the UA Spine Venom is one of the lightest runners on the market. Not only is it one of the lightest, but it is also sports a very comfortable upper that conforms right around your foot. The sockliner and collar on the Venom features 4D Foam technology, which will mold around your foot after wear. It also sports Micro G cushioning in the midsole, which offers a soft ride with an explosive return upon toe-off.

For the Gals:

New Balance Minimus Ionix 3090 V2

The New Balance Minimus Ionix 3090 V2 is an innovative new runner from New Balance, not for what it has, but more for what it has not. Weighing only 6 ounces, this shoe comes with everything you need for a light and supportive runner, but it also cut out everything you don’t need for an almost weightless feel. Ionix technology in the midsole allows for less materials usage, and it also creates enhanced comfort and flexibility.

ASICS GEL-Noosa Tri 8

With a perforated sockliner and open mesh upper, the ASICS GEL-Noosa Tri 8 will keep your feet as cool and dry as possible, even on the warmest of days. Not only do these have a great moisture drainage system, but they are also highly comfortable as well. They come equipped with an Impact Guidance System that enhances the foot’s natural gait from heel strike to toe-off. They also come with a WET GRIP outsole just in case you catch yourself in a summer shower.

Mizuno Wave Prophecy 2

Mizuno set out to create a shoe with the smoothest ride possible, and their answer was the Wave Prophecy 2. The full length Infinity Wave midsole design works in harmony with your foot’s natural stride, ensuring for a smoother ride than anything you’ve experienced before. They also come equipped with Dynamotion Fit, which relieves stress that the foot naturally places on high wear areas.

Nike has been and probably always will be dedicated to breakthrough technology and staying ahead of the curve. When Nike develops something new, they go all out and implement it…

Nike has been and probably always will be dedicated to breakthrough technology and staying ahead of the curve. When Nike develops something new, they go all out and implement it as much as they can on as many upcoming and past models as possible.

Back in 2010, Nike introduced the Hyperfuse technology: a lightweight mesh-like material that was durable, breathable and innovative.

Hyperfuse is a composite material composed of three layers: one for stability, one for breathability and the third of durability. The “fuse” comes from the three being “fused” together to create a level of precision unattainable via traditional cut-and-sew methods. With no seams, the material puts less pressure on the athlete’s feet, making for a shoe that gives without taking away much.

Initially used for basketball shoes, Nike observed the Hyperfuse’s ability to withstand extreme wear without much tear, the folks behind the swoosh decided to show some Hyperfuse love to their other models with by updating the material on the uppers.

Hyperfuse technology is everywhere now, and with the way Nike has continued to keep things going with it, it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. FinishLine.com has got a selection of shoe with Hyperfuse built into the upper, so check them out and stay tuned for what Nike has next up.

Like any game, it’s all about competition, and it holds true for the sneaker game as well. In the words of Ricky Bobby, “if you’re not first, you’re last”, so sneaker companies have been scrambling over the past 30 years to one up each other for the temporary title of who’s running the shoe game. Take a look at some of the major advancements that have popped up in the past 3 decades that have and continued to make waves.

Reebok Pump

Introduced in the late ’80s, the Pump was a line of athletic sneakers designed to provide extra cushioning around the ankle. After Dominique Wilkins and Dee Brown popularized these kicks, it put Reebok on the map in the innovative sneaker department.

Nike Air Max

Back in 1987, Nike decided to let it all hang out and make their trademark midsole air unit visible. Nike has never been a stranger to innovation and popularity as this technology remains one of the few to still be around today from that era.

Reebok DMX

In the ’90s, Reebok dropped the DMX technology and they let it loose on just about every model they could muster together. They had DMX foam that was formulated to deliver a cushioned ride, DMX Shear that was a cushioning component that worked to slow down and distribute stress at heel strike and the DMX Max designed for walkers seeking the maximum amount of DMX cushioning. With the DMX, Reebok had all bases covered.

Nike Shox

When Nike came out with the Shox technology, their commercials for it were astounding. Boasting lofty claims such as jumping out of the gym, the Shox took the shoe world by storm proving to be Nike’s biggest thing since the Air Max.

adidas Boost

In an attempt to one up the shoe universe, adidas released their Boost technology, the answer to their competitor’s latest and greatest. Throwing away traditional EVA, the Boost is comprised of energy cells that don’t deteriorate or diminish, for optimum response and recovery.

As far as technology has been pushed, it doesn’t seem like there is any sign of slowing. The shoe companies are all gunning for each other, so it’ll be interesting to see where things are headed.

If you’ve ever had a knee injury, you know that once it happens, you’ve got bad knees for life. While that may be the end all, be all for those participating in high-intensity sports, for you recreationers, it’s not over. In fact, there are some shoes out there that are just what you need for those tricky knees.

Asics GEL-Kayano 19: This is their 19th time around with this model, and while they’ve done a pretty good job getting things right, they keep finding ways to make this shoe even better. The fit has been improved, the weight has been lightened, but the real draw is the new Dynamic DuoMax Support System that provides the stability needs for your unstable knees.

New Balance 990: If you know New Balance, you know that they don’t skimp out when it comes to comfort and cushioning. Overpronation is a common problem that goes hand-in-hand with knees issues, and the 990‘s ENCAP midsole and NDurance outsole offset that for superior stability and durability.

Brooks Adrenaline GTS 13: Usually when shoe companies make version after version of a particular sneaker year after year, it’s most likely due to the fact that they’re doing something right. This notion holds true for the newest model in the Adrenaline GTS line. With this shoe, you get a built-in crash pad that reduces the shock and impact that can cause weak knees to give out.

Brooks Trance 12: Brooks is at the front of the pack in the running shoe race, so much so that they can specialize in providing exactly what a runner needs for whatever those needs may be. If knee problems are one of your problems, check out the Trance 12. Brooks’ trademark crash pad absorbs impact to create a smooth transition throughout your stride.

Got problems in the knees? Your solution is in the shoes. So, check the aforementioned selection out and more at FinishLine.com.

Nike is known for their unrivaled innovation, and they always seem to be at the front of the pack in terms of revolutionary sneaker technology. Back in 2008, Nike set out to design a new material that had similar technical aspects as carbon fiber, being lightweight and very strong, but at the same time have the ability to stretch and move along with the foot, unlike carbon fiber which is very stiff. After much testing along with trial and error, the Nike design team found the material that they were looking for, giving birth to Nike Flywire.

Comprised of finely spun liquid crystal polymer fibers, Nike Flywire was an all new support system that was not only more lightweight than anything that we have seen in the past, but also very strong as well. Traditionally, shoes were constructed with uppers comprised of various panels sewn together to offer support, but much of the materials were considered to carry excess weight. Flywire was designed to cut out that extra weight, while still giving support to areas where the foot needs it most. Expanding and contracting along with the movements of the foot, Nike Flywire has a second skin like fit that moves along with the wearer’s foot.

Since the conception of Flywire, Nike has used them on various types of performance shoes. Although it was originally designed for running, Nike realized that the high tenacity fibers would translate well into other sports. Now, you can find Flywire in not only Nike running shoes, but also basketball shoes, soccer cleats, training shoes, and even football cleats.

Reebok’s been making some major moves lately, bringing back some classics that haven’t been seen in almost over a decade, namely the Reebok DMX Run 10. While classics are much-appreciated and mostly well-received, Reebok hasn’t stopped churning out all-new models. Recently, we saw the Reebok ATV 19+ make its debut and now they’re giving us yet another shoe to feast our eyes on, with the Reebok DMX Sky.

For this new and soon-to-be-released model, Reebok has taken elements from the DMX Run and the ATV 19+ and combined them for an all-new silhouette.

While the ATV 19+ was aimed at being a training shoe and the DMX Run was engineered for runners, the DMX Sky looks to be straddling the fence as an all-in-one go-to sneaker.

The shoe is composed of a one-piece synthetic upper with mesh vents for ventilation and breathability. On the outsole, you’ll find similar pods to those seen on the ATV 19+, but this time they’re contained and held together for a sleeker and more uniform look.

As you’ve come to expect, these shoes will be available soon at your local FinishLine as well as at FinishLine.com

Natural motion has been the newest trend in running shoe technology, and the highly revered brand Puma has recently came up with their answer to the increasingly popular trend. The all new Puma Mobium is unlike anything we have seen on a running shoe before, and features new technologies that are revolutionary to the natural motion running design.

Mobium’s Motion

Natural movement is all about flexibility, which the Mobium comes well equipped with, but what makes the Mobium different from other natural motion runners is its ability to expand and contract. Just like an actual puma’s foot, the Mobium compresses and contracts to provide propulsion and expands to provide cushioning.

The Mobium Band

All of this is possible thanks to the Mobium Band, which mirrors the shape and placement of the plantar fascia. By doing this, the Mobium minimizes the difference that a regular shoe would have on a runner’s gait, allowing the shoe to adapt to the ever-changing motions of the foot. All of this may sound a little confusing, but it is something that you won’t truly understand until you actually try a pair on for yourself.

The design team over at Puma knew that your feet change up to 6% from movement to movement, and there were currently no shoes on the market with the ability to adapt to this change. After much research and testing, they found the solution to the problem, and thanks to the Mobium Band and uniquely designed outsole, the Puma Mobium is the first natural motion shoe to incorporate the elements of expansion and contraction.

Choosing the right running shoe can be very difficult, especially if you are somewhat inexperienced or new to the activity. First off, there are a plethora of shoes to choose from, which can make the decision a bit overwhelming. Secondly, you have to know which shoes are the right ones for your feet and running style, because after all, every running shoe is designed for specific needs in mind. However, have no fear, because in this article we will show you three great runners from Asics and explain which models are best for different foot types.

Do your feet under pronate or have a moderate over pronation? If so, the ASICS GEL-Nimbus 14 is probably your go to option. The Nimbus line is known for their famously plush and stable ride, and the 14 gives you less weight and increased breathability for an all around more comfortable ride than any of its predecessors. For these reasons, the Gel Nimbus 14 has made our list of Editor’s Choice Runners, and is the perfect shoe for all of you under to moderate overpronators.

Next up, we have the ASICS GT-2000 for the mild to moderate overpronators. This model is packed chock full of some of Asics greatest technologies, including Personal Heel Fit Technology, a DuoMax support system for a stable ride. In addition, the GEL Cushioning Systems keeps your feet comfy mile after mile.

Don’t think we forgot about the moderate to severe overpronators, because we have something for you all as well. The ASICS GEL-Kayano 19 is great for these types of runners, and the award winning design of the Kayano line has only improved on the new 19th version. It’s equipped with a Heel Clutching System and Dynamic DuoMax for an all around comfortable and stable ride that weighs half an ounce less than its predecessor.

We’re two months into the New Year, so we feel it’s about that time to look back at that resolution you put together a few months ago and see how well you’ve been doing to keep at it. If you’re like us, getting into a good running groove was on that to-do list, and if you’re like most, you may not still be on the right running path. So, we’re here to give you some encouragement and tips to keep it going or get started back up again.

1. Sign Up For a Race

The running race season is on the verge of getting here, so if you need some motivation for getting back into running, sign up for a local race to give you something to work towards.

2. Join a Running Group

It isn’t always easy to get out there and run by yourself, so look into joining a group of runners that are already into it that will give you some extra encouragement with some like-minded individuals.

3. Try Some New Running Routes

Sometimes the thought of running becomes a little stale and boring, so feel free to change up your surroundings and go a different route to keep things interesting.

4. Keep Running On Your Mind

Check out some running magazines and running websites, and just keep your mind on running. The more you keep it in mind, the more likely you’ll be willing to get out there and actually run.

5. Pick Up New Gear

Sometimes some new shoes or shorts are just what you need to give you a reason to run, and there’s no better place to get a little something for motivation than FinishLine.com
