When you’re calling your sneaker the “greatest running shoe ever” you’d better be able to back up the claim. And that’s exactly what adidas has done with the adidas Ultra Boost Running Shoes.

First released earlier this year, the latest Boost running shoe came out swinging with a mean performance punch. Energy-returning Boost cushioning steals the show on this sneaker, charging your run with a light, quick feel. Soft, but not too soft, Boost cushioning makes the most of every ounce of power you put into your step, giving it back to you as you take on your run.

Now the Ultra Boost is back and even brighter than ever before in Solar Yellow and Black. Drenched in day-glow Solar Yellow, the engineered mesh upper on the latest men’s colorway commands attention and is nicely offset by black accents and a white sole. In these speed-hungry sneakers, all they’ll see is a flash of yellow as your cruise through your run.

The ladies get a sun-soaked model as well. Slightly softer than the bright yellow on the men’s model, this Frozen Yellow version is sure to put a happy-go-lucky pep in your step. Inky Midnight Indigo perfectly complements the lemony hue, while the white sole ties it all together.

Not Just for the Gym: Nike Free 5.0, Nike Air Huarache & adidas Superstar Up Fri, 08 May 2015 15:18:05 +0000

In this edition of Not Just for the Gym, I wake up bright and early to sport my new bright gym outfit, and then take them to the street for a casual look. I am also bringing sneaker wedges back into my rotation.

Nike’s latest campaign in Toronto is #DoneBeforeDawn, six weeks of 6:30am NTC (Nike Training Club) classes at various locations in the city. While I’m not exactly a morning bird, nothing gets me more excited for the gym than having new gear to wear. I’m currently obsessed with the orange and peach tones from the latest Nike collection – especially these sunset tights. The Nike Free 5.0s were perfect for running to the venue (short and sweet – just under two miles) and transitioned well into the actual training class.

Warm weather is here, and it’s finally time to take my skirts and pale legs out of hibernation. I could not wait to wear this all-white tennis inspired outfit with my all-white Huaraches, which I was lucky enough to grab before it sold out. This is a pretty casual outfit, but if the mood strikes for a quick tennis session, I would be ready – or at least look ready.

I know I fall into the habit of reaching for an all-white shoe and sometimes forget how a punch of color can also add to an outfit. Nike Frees transition well from workouts to casual wear, so don’t be afraid to use them with something other than tights. I wore them with blue camo jeans, my favorite white tee, and an oversized denim jacket.

Most people are surprised when I tell them these are sneaker wedges. The hidden wedge gives the Superstar Up a cool look, and the bonus is they feel comfortable to walk around in all day. Worn with cargo pants and a crop, this look is spring/summer ready.

The adidas ZX Flux XENO Goes Beyond Reflective Thu, 30 Apr 2015 12:08:12 +0000 Click to view slideshow.

The ZX Flux has been a home run for adidas ever since its initial debut last year. Now, one innovation serves as the welcoming party for another, as we see the sleek silhouette decked out in the all-new XENO material.

At first glance, the adidas ZX Flux XENO looks like it could just be reflective, but that would be a mistake. The material draws inspiration from the Southeast Asia-native Xenopeltis snake, and features similar iridescent scales that give off shimmers of color.

Then, with a flash of light, it all changes. On the Black version, the entire upper transforms into a sea of shades, complemented by reflective black stripes. Meanwhile, the Grey version actually has a reflective upper, but with XENO stripes.

Compared to other shoes, the adidas ZX Flux XENO looks like a sneaker you’d find on store shelves in the distant future. Luckily for you, it’s here in blinding fashion now.

“Why fit in when you were born to stand out? I’m stepping into spring with some eye popping colors like Volt. Nike Pro shorts are a MUST for me during spring. You have to show off what you’ve been working hard for all winter! This outfit goes so well together with the Volt Flyknit Agility Zooms and Nike shorts. I work out between the afternoon to the evening, so having my Fleece Moto Cape keeps me warm. Its design is also so unconventional with its rare placement of a zipper!” - Michelle

“The Nike Dri-FIT Knit Tank is so lightweight, it won’t feel like you’re wearing anything! … The Nike Relay Printed Boy Shorts fit nicely and stay put. You won’t have to worry about constantly tugging on these booty shorts, and you won’t have to worry about them cutting your body in any awkward ways … The Nike Flyknit Zoom Agility Training shoes are perfect for the gym. I just imagine myself doing a workout circuit complete with box jumps, sled pushes and sprints.” - Ashleigh

“I love everything about this shoe — from the wear to the look. The adidas Boost sole has been my favorite for a while. However, this newer model is even more enhanced, creating a lighter and more responsive ride. I also love how the stitching has that jacquard-look. And while looking good, it also works as a breathable upper that stretches with your foot. That’s what I consider fashion meets function!” - Ashleigh

“Rather than matching or outdoing the Springblades I wanted to complement them. Since they have black stripes with silver accents I felt these adidas Originals printed leggings were the perfect fit. Pair all of that up with a black sports bra and you’re good to go! The sneakers take the lead and everything else springs right along.” - Shelby

“ASICS describes its GEL-NIMBUS 17 running shoe as a “famously plush and luxurious ride.” They aren’t kidding. This shoe has some serious cushion. I’ve mentioned before that I need support in my running shoes, which typically means they’re on the heavy side. However, I’m pleasantly surprised at how light the GEL-NIMBUS feels. These babies have some spring Central Park miles ahead of them.”  - Evann

Not Just for the Gym: adidas Superstars & Nike Flyknit Zoom Agility Fri, 10 Apr 2015 16:07:58 +0000

In this edition of Not Just for the Gym, I shed some light on running versus training pieces, as well as lived-in versus fresh sneakers. Keep reading for some outfit ideas for your adidas Superstars and your workout gear!

Something that is often overlooked is the difference between training and running pieces. I don’t mind as much for apparel, but there is a significant difference in footwear. Running shoes are built for stability and linear movement, whereas trainers (like the Flyknit Zoom Agility) are more equipped for lateral and dynamic movement and are lower to the ground. For this Muay Thai workout, I wore running tights with my Zoom Agility trainers.

[ Shoe: adidas Superstar Casual Shoes ]

There are some sneakers that I prefer to have lived-in look on, while others look best brand new. For example, I like my Stan Smiths a bit worn-in (not to be mistaken with dirty or beat up), but I like my Superstars super clean. I finally got a new pair for my rotation, and they have officially become my everyday neutral sneaker. I’m wearing them with a long tee and jersey trousers for a very comfy look (surprise, surprise).

[ Bottom: Nike Club Leggings Shoe: Nike Flyknit Zoom Agility ]

As I’ve mentioned before, some sneakers transition better into casual wear than others, but it’s not impossible. The Flyknit Zoom Agility certainly looks like a training shoe, but I find that it works well with most pieces. Since I chose to wear tights, I opted for a button-up shirt and a varsity jacket for a laid back, yet bold, look.

Spring hasn’t quite sprung where I’m at, but I will carry on with my pastel pink jeans and spring attire and pretend like I’m not cold and it’s not gloomy and rainy outside. Although this look is a bit more girly than I’m used to, the Superstar and the button-up break it down to a more balanced outfit that’s comfortable but still cool.

adidas Throws Some Graphics on the Tubular Wed, 08 Apr 2015 17:51:01 +0000 Click to view slideshow.

Last year was huge for adidas, and the Three Stripes hasn’t slowed down at all in 2015. One of the standout sneaker releases last year was the adidas Tubular, and its momentum has carried over into this year. The first couple of releases kept things clean with minimal colorways, but now adidas has decided to add some more flare to them.

These two colorways feature a leaf design on the upper that will make sure your sneaker game stands out no matter where you go. The Tubular is also the perfect lightweight runner for spring and will look great as the weather continues to warm up and you start to bring out your shorts.

Take your pick from the the Navy, Light Blue and Grey version or the Tan, Brown and Black colorway. Both perfectly blend a mixture of colors, graphics and a clean white Tubular sole.

These are more than just a good looking shoe though, they are comfortable enough to wear on a light jog or just casually. The upper is made up of one-piece neoprene with leather overlays for durability and softness, and the grippy sole is made of the the well-known over-sized rubber Tubular design.

6 Spring Looks for Active Men – Feat. Urban Street Runners Mon, 06 Apr 2015 22:01:45 +0000 We already covered our favorite looks this spring for the ladies, and now it’s time we turn our focus to what’s hot over in the men’s department. Here are 6 Spring Looks for Active Men, brought to you by Joe and Arron of Urban Street Runners, to get you to get moving in this season:

“adidas has a few looks for spring that I dig! My current favorites from the adidas line are the all-black sleeveless hoodie with the black Tiro Pants and my Spring Blade Ignites, which go hard with the Hoodie and Pants in my opinion. If I were to give two reasons why I like this look so much I would have to say that I like the way it looks on me, and I like how it feels when I’m getting active in it. I typically get way too hot and end up shirtless during a running session, but the adidas Sleeveless Hoodie keeps me at the perfect temperature. All together, it’s such a tough athletic look you might catch me in it weekly.” - Joe

“When it came to the Nike LunarTempo, I heard nothing but great things … So I had to get them for myself. As soon as I received them, I had to take them for a test run. I ran on the pavement, and they were extremely comfortable because the sole of the shoe had a lot of cushion. I’m the type of person that doesn’t like a big looking sole, so these were perfect … I’ve always liked wearing slim pants when I go on runs. Not only because of the way they look, because they don’t weigh me down. The pants don’t restrict my stride and let me move freely.” - Aaron

“You can’t go wrong when it comes to Nikes Air Max line! I absolutely love all Air Max 2015s. All the colorways are dope, they feel good on foot, and they’re good kicks to run in!” - Joe

[Pictured on Joe Spell: adidas Standard One Anorak Jacket, adidas Team Issue Training Pants, adidas Ultra Boost Running Shoes]

“Let me just start with how comfortable this look is from head to toe. The adidas Standard One Anorak Jacket is dope from the feel to the design. I love how light it is, as well as the extra zip up pockets within the front pouch. The Team Issue pants are as light as jacket, and they feel crazy soft on the legs! The adidas Ultra Boosts are fire! They are some of the most comfortable kicks to hit 2015, and in my opinion their performance matches that comfort. I like this gear as active wear and casual wear.” - Joe
