If you’ve ever had a knee injury, you know that once it happens, you’ve got bad knees for life. While that may be the end all, be all for those participating in high-intensity sports, for you recreationers, it’s not over. In fact, there are some shoes out there that are just what you need for those tricky knees.

Asics GEL-Kayano 19: This is their 19th time around with this model, and while they’ve done a pretty good job getting things right, they keep finding ways to make this shoe even better. The fit has been improved, the weight has been lightened, but the real draw is the new Dynamic DuoMax Support System that provides the stability needs for your unstable knees.

New Balance 990: If you know New Balance, you know that they don’t skimp out when it comes to comfort and cushioning. Overpronation is a common problem that goes hand-in-hand with knees issues, and the 990‘s ENCAP midsole and NDurance outsole offset that for superior stability and durability.

Brooks Adrenaline GTS 13: Usually when shoe companies make version after version of a particular sneaker year after year, it’s most likely due to the fact that they’re doing something right. This notion holds true for the newest model in the Adrenaline GTS line. With this shoe, you get a built-in crash pad that reduces the shock and impact that can cause weak knees to give out.

Brooks Trance 12: Brooks is at the front of the pack in the running shoe race, so much so that they can specialize in providing exactly what a runner needs for whatever those needs may be. If knee problems are one of your problems, check out the Trance 12. Brooks’ trademark crash pad absorbs impact to create a smooth transition throughout your stride.

Got problems in the knees? Your solution is in the shoes. So, check the aforementioned selection out and more at FinishLine.com.

Choosing the right running shoe can be very difficult, especially if you are somewhat inexperienced or new to the activity. First off, there are a plethora of shoes to choose from, which can make the decision a bit overwhelming. Secondly, you have to know which shoes are the right ones for your feet and running style, because after all, every running shoe is designed for specific needs in mind. However, have no fear, because in this article we will show you three great runners from Asics and explain which models are best for different foot types.

Do your feet under pronate or have a moderate over pronation? If so, the ASICS GEL-Nimbus 14 is probably your go to option. The Nimbus line is known for their famously plush and stable ride, and the 14 gives you less weight and increased breathability for an all around more comfortable ride than any of its predecessors. For these reasons, the Gel Nimbus 14 has made our list of Editor’s Choice Runners, and is the perfect shoe for all of you under to moderate overpronators.

Next up, we have the ASICS GT-2000 for the mild to moderate overpronators. This model is packed chock full of some of Asics greatest technologies, including Personal Heel Fit Technology, a DuoMax support system for a stable ride. In addition, the GEL Cushioning Systems keeps your feet comfy mile after mile.

Don’t think we forgot about the moderate to severe overpronators, because we have something for you all as well. The ASICS GEL-Kayano 19 is great for these types of runners, and the award winning design of the Kayano line has only improved on the new 19th version. It’s equipped with a Heel Clutching System and Dynamic DuoMax for an all around comfortable and stable ride that weighs half an ounce less than its predecessor.

Reebok has been dishing out a handful of great nostalgic retro releases as of late, with such shoes as the Reebok ES22 and the Reebok Question. With the new year upon us, Reebok will continue to supply us with classic retro sneakers, and we are thankful to see the return of the Reebok Scrimmage.

This training shoe was worn during the preseason by great athletes such as Dallas Cowboy’s running back Emmitt Smith and Chicago White Sox legend Frank “Big Hurt” Thomas. The Reebok Scrimmage quickly became a popular training shoe both on the field and for casual wear, and was one of the iconic Reebok’s during the 90’s. What people loved most about the shoe was the aggressive style midsole that had great traction for athletic training, and the speckled midsole offered fine tuned detailing. The shoe also featured an all leather upper that was durable for on field training, but also offered a classic sneaker feel that looked great when rocked under a pair of denims.

Just like other training shoes from the 90’s, the Reebok Scrimmage was made famous by great athletes such as Emmitt Smith and Frank Thomas. So if you want a taste of the big leagues, look out for multiple colorways of the Reebok Scrimmage dropping later this year at Finishline.

We see them all over the television, in the newspapers, and of course on the Internet. Each of them promises results, results that will get you in the best shape…

We see them all over the television, in the newspapers, and of course on the Internet. Each of them promises results, results that will get you in the best shape you have been in years, if not your life. There has been countless numbers of in home workout programs over the years, but do they actually work? In this article, we will go over some of the most popular workout programs, and determine if they are gimmicks or not.

If you remember the 90′s, then you certainly remember Tae Bo. Who could forget fitness guru Billy Banks punching and kicking his way through your television screen while promoting his total body fitness program? We have to admit that it did seem a little cheesy, but was it a gimmick? Well, the moves incorporated in Tae Bo are a mix of Tae Kwon Do, boxing, and some dancing moves, and all of these are great ways to burn calories. In fact, studies showed that Tae Bo helped you burn calories faster than other cardio fitness routines, and you could even burn up to twice as much in one one-hour session. So gimmick? We think not.

We’ve all seen the P90X commercials, and you’ve probably even had a friend or two take up this extremely demanding workout regimen. Supposedly, this 90 day workout plan will get you beach body ready by the end of the 90 days, but does it really work? P90X is a full rounded exercise program, and focuses on cross training, periodization, and also nutrition and dietary supplements. With that being said, P90X will undoubtedly whip your butt in to shape by the end of the 90 days, but you have to stick with the intensely anal workout and dietary plan. So is it a gimmick? No, P90X probably will get you beach ready, just be prepared for the toughest 90 days you will ever experience.

There’s a real good chance either your mom, grandma, or your crazy aunt have taken up Zumba over the past couple of years, because this workout routine seems to be the favorite of middle aged ladies trying to shed a few pounds. It’s said that about 14 million people have taken up this unique form of exercise, which incorporates both dance and aerobic techniques, but is it a gimmick? Well, your aunt just might burn anywhere from 500 to 1000 calories during a typical Zumba class, so if she keeps at it she will definitely shed a few pounds. However, Zumba is not in the clear, because they have more recently started manufacturing things such as “Zumba Wear”, despite the fact that you could wear anything to a Zumba class that you could wear to any other dance class. Final decision, Zumba – not a gimmick, Zumba products – a tad gimmicky.

Last up, we have the Insanity workout program. From the same people that brought you P90X, Insanity is also a comprehensive workout plan, incorporating physical fitness exercises along with dietary and nutritional programs as well. For those of you who haven’t tried it, this ones a real doozy, and you can see incredible results within 60 days, 30 days faster than P90X. So is Insanity a gimmick? Certainly not, because it probably is even a tad bit better than P90X. However, this could lead us to reevaluate if P90X is a gimmick, especially if you can get the same results from Insanity 30 days faster. Our conclusion, neither of them are gimmicks, but if you are going to choose one for yourself go with the Insanity Plan.

So what have we learned from all of this? For starts, there are many workout plans out there being blasted all over the Internet and on television, and the good majority of them will help you burn calories and get into better shape. However, theses plans are designed for the masses, and as we know, every person is different. Therefore, the best workout plan for you would probably be one that a personal trainer designed for your specific wants and needs, but these other types of workout regimens will definitely help and are usually more affordable.

Ever got right to the edge of a milestone and had that goal in grasp and well at hand, only for it to slip away? Well, in the sports world,…

Ever got right to the edge of a milestone and had that goal in grasp and well at hand, only for it to slip away? Well, in the sports world, it has happened all too often, so here are the top five times in recent memory where athletes and teams were that close, but couldn’t seal the deal.

5. Ask any 76ers, Phillies or Eagles athlete and they’ll tell you that playing in Philly isn’t easy. No other man can attest to that reality more than Donovan McNabb. In just his third year at the starting quarterback position, McNabb guided the Eagles to the NFC championship game, but unfortunately fell short, losing to the eventual NFL champion, the St. Louis Rams.

Donovan McNabb would go on to round up his team to three additional NFC championship appearances back to back, with the fourth time being the charm. The Eagles finally advanced to the Super Bowl only to fall to a Tom Brady and Patriots bunch that was determined to capture their third title in four years. McNabb was never able to get the Eagles back to that level, and will probably be forever remembered as being on the Super Bowl doorstep and never quite getting in.

4. Coming off a severe knee injury at the end of the last season, Adrian Peterson wasn’t expected to do much, let alone come back as quickly and as hardcore as he did. He powered through the season, put his team on his back en route to a playoff berth, all while steadily approaching the single-season rushing yard record. A record standing since 1984, held by legendary runningback Eric Dickerson, came just 9 yards short of the making history. The Vikings could’ve given the ball to Peterson to pick up the yardage, but opted to kick a field goal and punch their ticket to the playoffs. Maybe next year?

3. We all know “The Decision”. It was such an infamous event that those two words are all you need to say and people know what you’re talking about. LeBron James left the Cleveland Cavaliers to take his talents to South Beach in the hopes of winning not one, but multiple NBA titles. Well, he got down there, his team got off to a rocky start, picked it up and made it through the playoffs only to lose 4 games to 2 in the NBA Finals to the Dallas Mavericks, a team the Heat had beaten in 2006, sans LeBron. James was able to redeem himself the following year and finally took grasp of his elusive championship ring, but him failing right at the end lingered on.

2. Jim Kelly was the Donovan McNabb before Donovan McNabb, but the reason why he’s in the number two position is because he didn’t have a problem getting to the Super Bowl, he had trouble winning it all. In the span of four years, Jim Kelly corralled the Buffalo Bills en route to four consecutive Super Bowl appearances, only to walk away empty handed each time. Many quarterbacks never get to the big game, so making it there four times was a testament to Kelly’s greatness. Despite that fact, he’ll always be infamously remembered for not quite getting the job done.

1. The top spot of “getting there, but not quite getting it done” goes to the New England Patriots of the 2007 season. You might remember them. They won every single regular season game, stormed their way to the Super Bowl and were seemingly destined to complete only the second undefeated season of all time. Unfortunately, their efforts were thwarted by Eli Manning and the underdog New York Giants, with the game being defined by a single electrifying catch to seal the game. As low as the odds were that the Patriots would achieve an undefeated season, it’s an even higher unlikelihood that they’ll have another crack at it, and for that reason, they’re the team at the top of list.

We don’t know where some trends come from, but when they do come, they come out of nowhere. It looks like the next big thing on the horizon is one…

We don’t know where some trends come from, but when they do come, they come out of nowhere. It looks like the next big thing on the horizon is one that has made its rounds before, circa 1960s. Tie dye is back, and while it may seem gradual, it’s surely on its way. Don’t get caught off-guard and check out some new items that FinishLine just got in that are right in line with the tie dye wave that’s on its way.

If you’ve got any tie dye shirts laying around, you know that they are one-of-a-kind in that they don’t match with anything, yet match with pretty much everything at the same time. The easiest thing to do in this case is go with the flow and make it tie-dye with the Under Armour Print Blocked ColdGear Tights. Available in a number of colors, you can either be modest of go against the grain with an outrageous hue to stand out. Not to mention this pair of tights are specially engineered to be suitable for all temperatures, making them season-proof.

This may seem like a stretch, but they’ve even got tie-dye backpacks now, and they actually aren’t bad looking. JanSport’s Big Student Backpack is the classic model that hasn’t been changed over the years because it simply just works. To keep things fresh and current, JanSport decided to up the ante and adorn this bag in an orange and purple tie-dye for an edgy and “out-there” look.

Although socks don’t ever see too much daylight, leaving them out of the tie-dye craze would just be absurd. Given that reality, they’ve been invited to the party in the form of a Performance No Show 3 Pack featuring yellow, neon green and hot pink options.

While we have been highlighting great running destinations in US cities, we thought it be a good idea to give our readers some running route advice for a few international cities that could very well be your next vacation destination. All of the following cities are prominent places to visit, so if you find yourself in one of these great cities, you won’t be left in the dark in terms of great spots to run.

Never been to London? Well, you have to put it on your bucket list. There’s almost too much to do in London with all of the historic landmarks and beautiful parks and neighborhoods. If you find yourself in this mesmerizing metropolis on your next vacation, you could almost pick any park on the map to find an amazing running route, but we highly suggest you check out the Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens area. It’s a peaceful oasis amidst a thriving city, and the lush grass, abundant foliage, and soothing waterways make for an extremely relaxing running destination.

A unique clash of history and modernization, Beijing is a top travel destination for many vacationers seeking a well-rounded vacation spot with numerous landmarks, cultural cuisine, and countless excursions. You can visit the world famous Great Wall of China, the tremendous Tiananmen Square, and the Dashanzi Art District for a taste of the modern side of the city. If Beijing is your next travel destination, we advise you go for a run around the Haidian Canal District. This urban center follows along quaint canals with Chinese riverboats and lines of green trees along the water’s edge. Just don’t pick the busiest part of the day for your jog, because foot traffic can be heavy.

It’s known as the city of romance, and it’s no wonder why with all of the fine cuisine, cobble stone walkways, and Rococo and Neoclassical architectural buildings. Paris is a great vacation spot for couples, but the historical side of the city also offers for a family friendly destination as well. It’s home to over 400 parks and gardens, so there are certainly no shortage of running spots. However, if you happen to be in The City of Lights, do yourself a favor and take a jog along the scenic Seine. This river runs through the heart of the city and passes by many historic landmarks, and the views are simply stunning.

Known as the Marvelous City, it is one of the only urban sprawls that you can visit with white sandy beaches, staggering lush mountains, and lavish rain forests. The spectacular views and sensational landscapes make Rio de Janeiro one of the top vacation destinations, and it is truly a place where you can relax and enjoy all of the peacefulness that nature has to offer. It’s no surprise that this city also offers great running routes, and we recommend you check out Impanema Beach. This two-mile stretch of sandy beaches has incredible views of the surrounding landscapes, and is a great place to people watch the tourists and locals alike.

Unlike other cities on this list, you don’t go to North Hollywood for the history, and it is more renowned for its chic ambiance. Just about a two and half hour drive north of Seattle, Vancouver is an easy to reach vacation destination, and this young and vibrant metropolis is a great place to visit for those seeking beautiful landscapes as well as great shopping and nightlife. If you make it to Vancouver for your next vacation, go for a jog along the Stanley Park Seawall. You’ll run right along the comely coast, and have great views of the sensational mountains as well as the gleaming lights of downtown Vancouver.

We’re not sure if camo print will ever go out of style, but hey, we’re not mad at it either. There’s nothing quite as rugged and raw as camo, which is why the print translates well to both athletic inspired apparel as well as in the streetwear fashion scene. In particular, digi-pixilation camo print has made a huge impact in fashion as of late, and FinishLine.com has some great products that fit right in to this growing trend.

Reebok has been one of the brands that have picked up the digi-camo trend, and we have seen the print on shoes such as the Reebok Zig Escape. This is John Wall’s signature shoe from Reebok, and the digi-camo design perfectly reflects the aggressive yet stealthy style of play that Mr. Wall possess. If trail running shoes are more up your alley, Reebok also dropped a digi-camo colorway of the Reebok Zig Wild TR 2 Trail Running Shoes.

Reebok’s not the only brand that has picked up on the trend, and Nike has also dropped some great apparel with the digi-camo design scheme. The Nike Sublimated Men’s Running Shirt is offered in a variety of all over digi-camo prints in different colors, and it also comes in a short sleeve and long sleeve cut. For more everyday style, they also have dropped a sweet new graphic hoodie that features the digi-camo print, known as the Nike KO Camo Grid Training Hoodie.

If you happened to watch the NBA All Star Game that took place in Houston, you probably didn’t miss the bright green colored adidas shoes on the basketball court, which too featured a digi-camo print. The adidas Crazy Light 2 “All Star” features a mix of Green Zest and Vivid Green in their camo print, and they even put out the adidas Team Speed Impact Camo Crew Socks to match.

The running landscape is constantly evolving, as well as the runner traversing it. One brand that’s making a point to stay current and bridge the gap between the two is Brooks Sports. For runners looking to change the way they run, check out these shoes from Brooks and find out why you might need to go a different route.

This is the 12th time Brooks has gone back to the drawing board to revamp the Adrenaline GTS 12, but it’s still the fit and feel you’ve come to expect. This time they’ve added more mesh to the upper and a crash pad in the heel for increased ventilation and shock absorption, respectively. For them to continue to make this shoe, they’ve got to be doing something right.

For those with a more neutral and natural running gait, there’s the Pure Flow 2.0. With superior arch support, and a center strike pod to promote a more natural landing, the added technology has made for a bulky shoe. If you’re hitting the trails, you might need a little extra for what Mother Nature has up her sleeve.

Catering to a wider range of neutral runners is the Ghost 5. What makes this shoe so good is Brooks took the opportunity to incorporate the best of the Ghost 3 and 4, and adding a few more innovations. Incredibly smooth, well-balanced and adaptive, it’s the perfect shoe for the you and your imperfections.
