#14 – Nike Air Python

“My best of 2013 may not even make any other list and this is purely personal for me as this shoe was my ‘white whale’. In 1989 when I first started at Foot Locker, this shoe was on our ‘Fourth Down’ wall, meaning it was a last chance shoe, and was $19.99. I planned on buying them because brown and white were my school colors. One day they were no longer there. This always stuck with me, and when the internet ‘came out’ I researched and found out the rarity of the shoes. I always regretted not buying those Pythons back then. When I saw their return, it was as a complete shock and surprise that this forgotten gem was going to make a return.”@krvanch

  1. Plain and simple.. The Nike Air Python is simply my grail! This shoe set the bar for me bsck in childhood because my mother wouldn’t buy me Jordans or expensive kicks for anything at all. She saw the pythons and for some strange reason so she copped both colorways for me. I was the only younger kid with these and the guys on my varsity basketball team rocked them so I felt like I had a gem… As time passed over the years I realized how much of a gem this was because it was never retro and if you saw one somewhere it was a collectors shoe. When I got news that they were coming back I was ecstatic and my outlook
On 2013 changed. Since the OG CW’s released I’ve grabbed the other two and now I feel my sneaker life is coming to a halt because this is all I’ve wanted. I ask many about the shoe and they just don’t have the knowledge of it and that’s ok because it’s a dinosaur of the shoe world.
