People all across the nation were going on sneaker buying diets to save up some bread for all of the crazy holiday releases. Although the world in fact did not end, it may have felt like it for many sneakerheads who hit the snooze one too many times and missed out on the holiday releases. Because as is usual, Nike and subsidiary Jordan Brand hit us with a handful of hot releases this past holiday week, so let’s break it down and see what people were trying to cop the most.
Nike Basketball’s “Christmas Pack” was highly anticipated this year, consisting of three signature shoes from three of the game’s best athletes. The Nike Kobe 8 “Christmas” and the Nike KD V “Christmas” were on many peoples wish list, sporting a brightly themed colorway that really didn’t have much to do with Christmas at all. Perhaps that is why the Nike LeBron X “Christmas” seemed to be sought after a little more heavily, sporting a traditional red and green colorway. Nevertheless, you would be hard pressed to find any of these shoes still in stock, and it’s only been a week since the release.
Jordan Brand also had some highly anticipated drops this week, starting off with the Air Jordan 11 Retro “Playoff”. Undoubtedly the most favorite release of the holiday season, we saw insane lines and chaos break out in malls all across America. The day after the Playoff release, Jordan graced sneaker fans with the Air Jordan 4 Retro “Thunder”. This shoe was not a quick sell out like the Playoffs, but it is one of the hottest non-original colorways of the Air Jordan 4, and many were ecstatic to see its return.
