The NBA is back, meaning Kevin Durant is back, so you know Nike spent all last summer in the lab concocting a new sneaker for the three-time scoring champion. Entering into his fifth season in the league, Durant is constantly turning up his level of play, and Nike has followed suit to deliver a shoe to keep up.
Nike switched it up coming from the IV to the V, trading in the low-cut for a mid-top, and tossing the strap for a hidden, but more intuitive support system. Adding in a triple-layered Hyperfuse upper and a 180 Max Air unit, the KD V is a completely revamped model in the KD signature line.
For the initial release in November, Nike gave fans of Durant and his shoes the opportunity to create their own colorways, but on December 15, the company of the Swoosh will be dishing out a commemorative color combo. Dubbed the “Bright Crimson”, you might be wondering how they came up with this combination since it doesn’t match Kevin’s team colors (Oklahoma City Thunder). Well, being born and raised in the DC and Maryland area, this colorway is meant to pay homage to the flag of the Old Line State.
You might think a sneaker with an all-red upper and volt-colored accents would be hard to pull off, but we’ve seen Kevin Durant do things on the hardwood that would make rocking these shoes easy. If you’re having some trouble, the selection at FinishLine.com is more than ample to aid in pulling it off with some swagger.
