The NBA’s Rookie/Sophomore game started off as one of the best things to check out when implemented in 1994, but in the last decade the game has lost its luster. So, in 2012, the league switched things up to add a little spice and flavor to the equation, bringing in basketball legends to coach a pickup game of sorts. While Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley will be on opposing sides once again coaching against each other, Nike and adidas have also picked guys to be on their roster to sport their All Star-themed kicks.
Easily the shoo-in for Rookie of the Year, adidas has Damian Lillard on their side as he’s been seen balling in the adidas Crazy Light 2 virtually all season. For All-Star Weekend, adidas has released the “Green Zest” colorway that’s a shocking contrast to the red and blue colored shoes we’ve seen in the past. With Kenneth Faried being a big man in the paint, we should see him don the adidas D Howard Light red colorway.
On the Nike side, Bradley Beal will more than likely be wearing the Nike KD V as he’s been rocking with this season. Nike has introduced the “Extraterrestrial Pack” for All Star Weekend, so we can expect to see Beal balling in the the lime green All Star KD V‘s. As for Kyrie Irving, he’s been taking to the court in the Nike Hyperdunk 2012 all season, but Nike has been keeping their plans for All Star Weekend under wraps regarding this sneaker. We’ll have to wait and see what they have up their sleeve.
All Star Weekend is back again, the NBA has revamped things to bring back the excitement it once had, and Nike and adidas are following suit for their head-to-head clash to turn the most heads in Houston.
